Question
Ok, I am selling all of my Nikon equipment because I’m 72 and have arthritis in my shoulders and it is preventing me from holding a big camera. I need recommendations for a point and shoot that is good quality and easy to use. Or maybe even a mirrorless, but less than 1000.00. Sample pics if possible. I will use it mainly for pictures of my 1 year old twin grandchildren or my dogs. Thanks in advance for any information.
You might look at the Ricoh GR series. I have never had one because it does not have a viewfinder. It is a fixed lens camera. If you like that sort of thing. I have heard good things about it.
I have the previous Ricoh GXR system - perfect for your planned use and beyond. The GRII got excellent reviews. There are viewfinders available for it - personally, having started in film days, I rarely use the screen.
For your particular subject matter and health issue I would suggest considering a smart cellphone with a high quality camera, the ultimate point & shoot. That way you always have it with you, very easy to operate, quality photos, convenient to email/text photos to parents or others, etc. They have built in PP software or free apps to use. And when not using it to take photos they actually do other things besides just sit on the shelf, especially with all the apps available. Know it takes awhile to wrap head around this suggestion.
You can pick up a clean used Olympus OM-D E-M1 plus an Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 lens off ebay for well under the $1,000 mark. You could probably come close to the 1,000 with an E-M1 mk II.
The original E-M1 + 12-40 with battery, get-a-grip wrist strap, and SD card is 2 lbs 2 oz (975 g) on my scales.
For samples you can look at anything I’ve posted.
Check out the Panasonic Lumix FZ300. It has a 24x zoom, (25-600mm equivalent), that is f/2.8 throughout its range. It also does really nice video. You’re looking at about $400
Or for that same $400 they make the ZS100, only a 10x zoom but that’s because it has a 1” sensor.
Not really, I have a iPhone 11 Pro Max. It does take great pics.
I enjoy using a Panasonic LX100 a lot. My wife enjoys using a Panasonic ZS100 with a longer zoom reach a lot too. If you want to pixel peep, I'll send you all the RAWs and JPEGs you want via dropbox or something. Both are very small, very light, built with good quality and take great images.
I bought
this mirrorless camera and lens combo 3 years ago. It's very lightweight, has a versatile focal range, and several nice features such as rotating LCD screen and excellent (clarity and brightness) electronic viewfinder. I love it!
I shoot in raw and edit using PS Elements and Nik Collection.

If you are interested in a mirrow-less system I can highly recommend a Panasonic Lumix GX 85 system which runs about $500 with a 12-24 and 45-150 lenses. This model is discontinued but readily available.
Please take a look at my posting Shooting One Handed for my comments and images. Use the Search section here on UHH. Since I walk with a cane and have balance problems at 81 years young, I have learned to shoot one handed when I am walking our dog.
I use the 45-150 lens as my walk around camera system. These lenses are slower but bumping up the ISO provides excellent quality for 8X10 printed images.
Any of the Panasonic point and shoot models would be another option and have a faster zoom to tele fixed lens.
Whatever you get, make sure to get a model that has an electric viewfinder

Whoops, I accidentally posted the comment twice, I need to delete the posting without the photo. I am fairly new on UHH and still learning posting procedures.

My "real" camera is a predecessor, the GX8 and I use that same 14-140 lens.

Why not just get a lightweight body for your lenses?
A D5600 weighs next to nothing and the tilt screen eliminates neck strain.
The kit 18-55mm and the 55-200mm DX lenses also weigh next to nothing, if the lenses you have are gargantuan.
They are inexpensive, as well.
If you want a single lens grandkids camera, get a Fujifilm X100F.
The price has dropped with the release of the X100V.
VERY handy camera!
