One of my neighbors lost two family members to Covid 19. It’s real. It’s different. It’s not flu. It’s got a five day incubation period that is also the time you are most contagious.

My pharmacy closed abruptly today. They are closed until further notice, due to Covid 19. Their staff were all exposed... How many customers were exposed, too?

Yeah, life sucks sometimes. Wash your hands. Wear a mask to protect others from you, just in case you’re incubating the virus. Stay 6’ / 2m away from others when possible — especially avoid any disrespectful morons NOT wearing a mask.

If you think this is fake, go read the history of the plague, or the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918.

Right on. Luckily, my grocery store won't let you in without a mask, but If I have to go to Home Depot or some other places, I run into too many morons without masks.

My son works at Whole Foods. They hand out masks at the door if you’re not wearing one.

I was absolutely not singling out anyone. But if you cannot respect others enough to care for their safety, that truly is moronic. And if you have the virus and kiss strangers, that’s murder.

I spent 20 years in the Navy caring for others safety against real and verified threats. Covid-19 is neither of those. Even if I was infected, a mask would serve NO PURPOSE unless I was sneezing, coughing, salivating or expectorating. If I was doing any of those things, I wouldn't be out and about in public. Because I care for others safety. And the kissing thing was just hyperbole to make a point. I'm pretty selective about who I kiss.

or breathing. Masks stop water vapor {which we all exhale} and which can carry the virus for six feet

You just do not seem to understand that Covid-19 is a real and present threat.

Thanks for your service. Do a little more research about the masks, though. They stop the normal aerosol clouds we emit when speaking. My mask protects you from me, if I should be contagious and asymptomatic, and vice-versa.

This story is an example of how well singing or loud talking can spread the virus in an enclosed space. Masks probably wouldn’t have helped in a crowd of 61, but at six feet in a store, they give us all a fighting chance.

That is a silly statement. Lots of people are out and about and have been. Even during what they are calling a lockdown, a lot of state parks were open as well as NWRs.

Lowes garden center has had lines at the registers as soon as the last threat of frost passed.

Who is the Everybody you are referring to? Why the necessity for foul language to get your point across?

Maybe your issues lie within.

On March 21, 2020, the "experts" predicted 2.2 million Americans dead from Covid-19. Sadly, we just went over 100,000. I will attribute some of the success of less than projected deaths from social distancing and staying locked down. I will also agree that we will see some more people test positive and potentially die from these large gatherings.

What I won't agree on, as the experts have projected are any senarios projected because this hasn't happened before. The best thing they can do is make an informed guess. Guess what? They aren't informed because they haven't seen this before either. The best thing we can do is wear a mask when out in public. Stay away from large gatherings where others are not wearing masks.

Masks do help. Let me explain. If you are infected, and you wear a mask, any "spittle" that you may have coming from your mouth will land inside the mask. The virus needs to have that spittle to get to the next victim. If you contain it in your mask, it can't get to the next person. If that next person has on a mask, the little bit of anything you might be trying to transport, can't get in to the person's mouth because the exterior of the mask will stop it. So wearing masks DOES help prevent the continuing exposure to this disease.

I had this bugger and it wasn't fun. Fortunately, I lived. I'm lucky because I already had inhalers (asthma), nebulizer (asthma). I also don't sleep on my back, I sleep on my side. It was later determined that Covid patients should be on their stomachs, moving their organs away from the lungs and allowing the lungs to work better. I think being on my side helped move those organs away from my lungs. I was hot and cold at the same time, 103F temp. I turned up my heated mattress pad to high and pulled up 3 down blankets. Thus increasing my body temp. Supposedly, high temps kill this little monster.

I believe you can go out, meet friends out, and socialize, all while wearing a mask. Still order food to-go thus supporting local restaurants. Many businesses have become proficient in taking orders for all kinds of things and will deliver to your house or curbside. Take advantage of this. Still wear your mask.

Remember to wash your hands and wear a mask. You might live long enough to get through this. God bless.
On March 21, 2020, the "experts" predict... (show quote)

Sorry but you do not understand the purpose of models. They are to experiment with strategies to guide decisions.

They do not predict a certain number. They calculate a range of possibilities depending on inputs. The two million was the upper range of one model with no actions.

Models are effective guides for decisions because they force you to write down your assumptions and think through how the system works. Human brains are awful at that.

I have tracked the Washington model outputs from the beginning. The ranges have narrowed as options have been exercised and input data has improved.

Your point on masks is right though. WHO and CDC were flat wrong on their effectiveness.

There is growing evidence that lockdown does not work, though. Learning social distancing and masks are far more effective.

On the other hand, I haven't seen today's map, but Georgia has so far been doing quite well. Early reports were that consumers were cautious when the state first opened - maintained social distancing and did use masks.

I'm waiting to see what happens to all of the protesters and looters wind up with at all the cities that are under attack right now. NBC news showed some nasty stuff in LA and other parts of CA about 7:30 on the 31st (Sunday).

The protests are nation-wide. Here in the NC Piedmont, we had protests in Greensboro and High Point last night. The violence — broken windows and trash cans thrown into the streets, graffiti, plus some fireworks — came mostly from white supremacist agitators from out of state. The locals were calm until tear-gassed and pepper sprayed.

My son, a UNCG student, was at the Greensboro scene. I will stay away from him for two weeks! Most of the peaceful protesters were wearing masks, but not practicing social distancing.

Here in High Point, the Chief of Police walked into the crowd of demonstrators and had a friendly, civil conversation with their leaders. Most of the crowd dispersed after that, but then paraded through the downtown area, up Main Street, into the 'burbs. Many local businesses shut down before they came through.

Just ordinary breathing blows micro droplets into the air. A cough or a sneeze blows them farther. Breathing hard blows them even farther. The mask slows them down so they don't get to anyone else, provided they are staying at least six feet away. One hopes that people will cough and sneeze into their sleeves. None of this is a guarantee, but it greatly reduces the risk.
