Hi Group,
My thanks to ALL of you for your recommendations. The one from Indrajeet Singh triggered an idea of a simple table clamp I can building based on the Novaflex clamp he provided in the picture. Again, my thanks to all of you. Take care & ...

Movavi Screen Recorder is the way to go. You have to pay for it, but it records anything on your screen. Actually, you can click on Record while in a Zoom meeting.

If I were going to record with a camera, I would use either a desktop tripod or a standard. I've done it both ways. Watch out for reflections in the monitor, though. Background noise can also be a problem.

Hi group,
Currently, I'm shooting YouTube videos and ZOOM classes using a tripod with a macro rail positioned several inches from my fly-tying vise. I sit behind the tripod and reach over the camera to tape or teach fly tying instructions. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally "kick" the tripod out-of-alignment. It's no big deal when shooting for YT but distracting as heck when it happens in a ZOOM classroom. I've been searching for a tripod replacement that I can clamp to the table's edge. If I could find or build this type of clamp, I could mount my macro rail on it and continue my work without disruption. Do any of you have ideas about where to purchase a table-edge clamp or have ideas on how to build one? I spend several hours the other day browsing Harbor Freight looking for ideas but to no avail. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Take care & ...

.

I would mount a tripod head to a piece of 3/4ths inch plywood, then clamp the wood to the table top

Is there a reason why you can not just work from the other side, instead of reaching around? Or the side?

Hi Frank,
Yes, it's possible to go to the other side of the vise, many other instructors do just that. We feel our students get a more understandable lesson when they see the same view we (the instructors) do rather than the reverse. Yes, it's harder for us but a better lesson for the student. Thanks for the thought. Take care & ...

That's makes sense I guess...... In that case try a boom pole and set it to the side.
