People are uninformed, gullible, indifferent toward facts and the truth, and fearful. I'm not just talking about Covid; I mean in general. "My opinion is just as valid as your facts." The world would be a much better place if people used their brains more efficiently.

Incidentally, my parents allowed their precious first-grader {me} to be part of the final test of the polio vaccine.
It turned out that I got the placebo, but they didn't know that until later.
I saw the horrors of polio first hand - I had a classmate come back to class in braces, on crutches.
I will never forget the horror of that time.

I was in 3th grader at the time. I was giving the real thing, no placebo. there was three shots giving and all three were giving over a two years time?. I still have a card which is a record of the three shoots. (Now can I find that card, it here someplace.). yes I remember the horror of it, seeing kids in iron lung, wheelchairs and braces on their legs. That is one of those a person does not forget after 65+ years.

Totally unmitigated bull$#!t.

This is like pouring a mixture of motor oil and BB pellets behind your car to interrupt someone else’s progress. It’s the classic propaganda technique of spreading FUD — fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

Anti-vaccination proponents probably have some sort of mental disease.

One would have to be sick, not to understand that the needs of the many (for a vaccine that offers immunity) outweigh the wishes of the few (who resist taking the vaccine). Alternatively, one would have to have a hidden agenda of some sort!

I had a neighbor whose mother refused to let her get the polio vaccine in the early 1960s. She DIED of polio in 1970!

Hundreds of millions get vaccinated against a broad range of microbes without any side effects.

Let’s let the medical community sort this out in their formal, scientific manner. Social media is a dangerous place to get medical advice or information.

If your cousins daughter actually believes this:

1 - I know a couple of good psychotherapists who are friends, and,

2 - I have a bridge to sell her.

A cousin's daughter is an avout anti-vaxxer and I get her postings on fb. The last one which she forwarded is posted below. It kind of blew my mind. The first proposition is that Covid-19 is NOT a virus but a bacteria. It gets better from there.

🤔🤔🤔 (interesting 🤔 anyone else heard this?!?) Italy has allegedly discovered covid i. . . .appropriately; the vaccine may come later."
Copy and pasted

Note that in one place the post calls Covid-19 a bacteria but in a later paragraph refers to it as a virus.

Well COVID-19 will take care of this part of the human gene pool. That is the only response to these idiots that endanger the remainder of the population.

This virus that can cause a cytokine storm.
It affects both pulmonary and vascular regions of the body.
That’s what this strain of virus does that can lead to serious illness. In some people the reaction is mild or nonexistent. It all depends how your body reacts to it.
Make no mistake about it, this virus can be deadly.
A bacteria? No.

All fake news, other part of the claim is also false. The WHO didn’t institute a “\’law\’ that no bodies be autopsied.”
Fs
But the Italian Ministry of Health, which is lauded in this claim for conducting autopsies, had actually sought to limit them for COVID-19 deaths, issuing guidance on April 1 that said autopsies should not be performed on those who died with “full-blown” cases of COVID-19.

The WHO published guidance in March detailing precautions to be taken while performing autopsies on those who died from COVID-19.

Generally, it said, dead bodies are not infectious, but warned that some organs of a person who died during the infectious period of COVID-19 could still contain the live virus. It recommended that autopsies be performed in adequately ventilated rooms with as few people present as possible, and that they all wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

My wife received a card designating her a "Polio Pioneer" when she got the shot in the 1950s.

About five years ago, I woke up and could not breath-gasping for air. No symptoms of anything. Headed over to urgent care-ended up in the hospital ICU for three days with medical staff wearing hazmat suits. They let me go home with oxygen machine running 24 hours/day and I could not work for six weeks. I had the flu which had turned into viral pneumonia and viral sepsis. This was in February-not able to walk a distance until June. 5 years later I have asthma and 2 different inhalers. Doctors orders: I have to have a flu shot every year and got pneumonia and shingles too. I never actually felt ‘sick’ The doctors told me that the flu attacks the weakest part of your body. The inoculations help save my life. Antivaxers are nuts and a danger to society.

I am constantly shocked and aghast at how these anti-vaccine folks can be so fundamentally wrong over and over again! Covid isn't a bacterium. It's alien nanites and all those who don't die are being transformed into slaves of our new supreme overlord Tourg.

Most of them weren't around during the polio years and haven't a clue as to how awful a disease that was until Salk came up with a vaccine and even that was improved upon. There are now only 3 countries in the world with polio cases: Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. For many years Rotary International, along with other organizations, made it their crusade to eradicate polio throughout the world.
This has been an ongoing project for Rotary since 1979. So, if these folks feel that the vaccines are worse than the disease, why is most of the world now free of the threat of being crippled by polio, or worse, death?

As far as the WHO goes, they are Chinese bootlickers.
The CDC unfortunately has strayed from their original focus of fighting disease.
Big Pharma to the rescue this time.

As a Family Practice doc, my response to these anti-VAX posts are that they are all BS. I've been asked to sign off on school forms from anti-Vax parents and refused because I don't want to have kids fall ill due to their parent's stupidity. Vaccinations work and hopefully we will have a valid vaccine for Coronavirus but
unlike illnesses like measles, mumps, etc, we do not yet have a vaccine for COVID-19 and anyone who thinks Trump has a solution or treatment, then maybe you do deserve to fall ill. COVID-19 is a virus.
COVID-19 has no intelligence nor does it respect race, gender or age. Poor and rich have, can, and will be at risk for catching and dying from this illness. The best way at least for now to minimize the risk of falling ill is to avoid contact with someone who does carry the virus. That means stay at home, wear a mask when you do have to go out, wash your hands when you do gt home and don' be an idiot and go to the beach, a party, or similar venue where there's a good chance that someone may be asymptomatic but still have the virus and pass it on to you

Jim-Pops thanks for posting this. I will never understand why people get so much enjoyment in passing on conspiracy theories or being just plain gullable instead of taking a moment to think or if they don't know how to do that, at least do some fact checking. It's OK to fact check, these are not political statements.
