My first entry into electric vehicles was a Chevy volt many years ago. After that lease expired, I purchased a Tesla in 2016. IMHO, it's the best car I've ever owned for many reasons. After 4 years, I'm upgrading to another model S Tesla with autopilot and a larger battery with more range.I'm a believer that electric cars are the way to go.

I am at the later stages of my career as a lawyer and have experienced the changes to the legal profession brought on by computers. While I understand that AI will be able to address a number of legal issues, I doubt that they will totally replace lawyers due to the dynamic nature of the law as society evolves. The current crisis will definitely have an effect on decisions regarding the configuration of workspace and legal procedures, but I'm not terribly worried about my brethren in the future.

I found the original post to be extremely entertaining and prophetic and have no doubt that much of it will come to pass. I hope I'm around long enough to see much of it come to fruition. Change is inevitable, regardless.

An interesting article. You left out an even better to electric cars. Hydrogen. It makes water as it runs.
But I am 85 and this is all a bit of future talk for me. Sure wish I was younger so I could enjoy it.
Old but not dead.

COVID19 and other pandemics yet to come will encourage us to keep our personal cars.

AI is one thing - computers becoming increasingly good at a given task. But they have to be programmed for that given task, presumably by humans.

Sentient AI is quite another thing - computers able to think and reason like a human. ie, endowed with feeling and unstructured consciousness.

Don’t agree with #35

The electric grid in the US is at max capacity now and falling apart and utilities are not doing normal preventive maintenance.
Some say that hackers can shut it down too.
The state of California is in big trouble already. Their utility was sued for causing wildfires and is bankrupt.
Don’t expect the government to help, look how well they run the VA system.
Check your electric bill you’re paying now.... are you pleased with all the add on taxes they added???

I sure don't want to be the first group of passengers on the electric airplane

WOW!!! I had no idea anyone would really take each one of these seriously. Way too much trouble for me to have done so. Congratulations on fine work. Someone else can check you for accuracy. I just am not that interested. These changes will most likely come gradually and so slow I won't notice. Most of us won't.

I think that you are only slightly younger than I. It's doubtful that either of us will see most of these changes. But think of what we've already seen. My first "real" camera was a Pentax Spotmatic. Many very proficient photographers of today could not tell you what features it had or didn't have. Though a fine instrument in it's day, an entry level digital SLR with decent lenses can make better images, especially given the quality of the early 60's Tri-X that I bought in bulk rolls to feed it with.

The 10 minute motor change is ridiculous.

If they could do a battery change in 10 minutes that would go a long way to making electric vehicles viable for longer trips. Currently 20-30 minutes for a charge changes the trip dynamics significantly.
