I buy from eBay, Amazon, B&H photo, several times a month, to save shopping time and travel, with excellent results. I ask questions and read the item description carefully and several times. Once in a long while, if an item is not right, I contact the seller and get a refund. I pay with Paypal as they protect the buyer.

As I use expensive underwater equipment, I often buy and sell stuff via Wetpixel.com (free for its members). Here I also use Paypal for protection and am careful, ask detailed questions and get a feeling for the seller. So far so good, after several years I have had no bad experiences. The occasional returns have gone well. This includes cameras, lenses, water proof camera housings, strobes and other equipment, all have been fairly priced and worked well.

To sell I used eBay, but they now charge me a Seller's monthly fee, plus 10% of the sale price, a bit steep, so I sell my underwater items on Wetpixel. Again, the money goes through Paypal, with no bad experiences thus far after more than 10 years, their fee is worth it.

Moral: Before buying, read everything carefully, ask questions, get the seller to commit himself on important details. After buying, if not satisfied write the seller to state the problem clearly and be polite, keep in mind eBay and Paypal are on your, the buyer's side. If selling, be 100% clear and accurate, price fairly, ship promptly.

For me, buying and selling via the internet is a blessing, as one can shop the world over in a matter of minutes, great variety, excellent prices and service, and at times I meet some real interesting people. Be polite and stay happy, it is good for business and for the coronary arteries: Life is short, enjoy it.

User ID, you ask for a up date. Here going. I ship out the lens and had to pay for it. Also I put in negative feedback on Neptune Photo inc. I did all that around 2:00 PM (New York City Time) . About a half hour ago( 5:45 PM (NYC' time) I get a e-mail from Neptune, saying If I remove the negative feedback their will sent me pre-pay mailer. I e-mail back, forget it. I want my money back. I get a second e-mail from Neptune saying I have to remove the negative feedback before the money can be relisted. I answer them by tell them when I get my money back I will remove the negative feedback. If I get a third e-mail, all bets are off. As for KEH just waiting.

First things first. Have you got a legal right to have a refund? This should be the first thing to happen, the second thing to happen is that they completely withdraw the attempted bribe that they have offered you, by asking that you remove negative feed-back you gave them. I wonder if it’s at-all possible to give them even more feed-back about they way they are treating you as a customer. To me they seem to be digging themselves into a bigger hole than what they started with. At the end of the day the decision is yours and yours alone.

I sold a lot of things on eBay and always felt that it was best for me and for the buyer to make the description clear, correct, and useful. It was fun to take photographs of objects to make them clear and accurate. As a buyer, I can hardly remember any issues with listings.

Being a nick from Arkansas, it gives me great pain to say that with your vocabulary and precise, omniscient, and stuffy New England nature, I'm surprised you do not know the word "colloquialism." By the way, "I did not intend to start a sub-thread" can be substituted with the term "hijack" which means rudely divert the focus of a post away from the original poster's (OP's) intended conversation which is a "no-no" here in uhh; a rule actually, or was. There are rules, you know, or were last time I looked although they do occasionally change. Have you read the rules? Writing a suitably descriptive subject title may even be mentioned there also, so respectful rule compliance may help you avoid hijacking future threads groaning about how rudely you have been treated. Using the "Search" tool up top of any page in the menu should help you find the rules.

Also, Frigidaire was the first electric "ice box" and colloquially the name became synonymous with an "electric ice box" and everyone wanted one but those who didn't get a Frigidaire got an imitation, Crosley, General Electric, Kenmore, etc., but they were all a "frigidaire" to many people. There ain't but one Elvis. Everything else is an impersonator. Capisce? ...to quote The Urban Dictionary, "pronounced as cah-peesh) which is derived from the italian word capire "to understand" and from latin capere "to grasp or to seize". it is now used in american slang to say "got it" or "understand." common alternative spellings you might encounter are capice, capicé, capiche, capeesh, capisch, capishe and coppish. Now, relax and have a good time. Covid-19 can't get you here.

gessman,

I commend you! Your contemptuous thoughts and conclusions are simultaneously hilarious, illogical, not entirely accurate, and laced with hypocrisy.

Go ahead and respond if you must. I don’t care. You can have the last word in this new subthread of yours. 😊

I second this comment. If I shop for camera gear online, KEH is my first option.

I've been buying from KEH for over 30 years with not a single issue. Product always better than described. Something missing from this story.

I have had great results on eBay. Five cameras in three years. All good. Also, all but one of my lenses (I got one at Best Buy). I always look about a 99% rating and many sales.

I have bought cameras, lenses and other camera equipment from B&H, Adorama, KEH, and ebay. I will say most of it was as good as stated and some were rated as Good, but appear to be As New. Everything worked as new. I do buy with PayPal.

Then why not title the post "Trouble with KEH and Neptune"?

I think that would be a way better heading or title. Also, just my 2 cents worth, over bought all my gear second hand of the internet, mostly from Ebay, and have always been satisfied.

On this erudite note, I am going to Hoover my carpets now; go make a Xerox, and open a box of Kleenex! Except that the vacuum is a Shark, the copier made by Sharp, and the tissues are the Target house brand.

I ordered a camera, Sony a7rIII, from ebay. The seller (a camera store) said it had some feature, and when I got the camera, it did not have it. I notified him I wanted to return it, he did not reply. Ebay jumped right in for me, contacted the seller, and now he sent me an approval to return it. LOVE EBAY. Great place to do business.

I have no idea what this is about. I see the word "ice box", I still use those words when talking about a refrigerator. In this part of Northern New York you have Amish living and moving into this area, So one would see a real "ice box" for sale.

My apologies Bill 45. My comment was in response to lev29's comment about subjects not related to your original post, suggesting to him that he moderate his stilted language and quit hijacking your thread. Hopefully he understood and won't divert attention away from the subject at hand in the future.

Congrats on your good luck. While generally satisfied with both ebay and Paypal, a problem does exist - they have you walled off and if you happen to get a rep who is having a bad day and chooses to decide against you, it can be a real problem reaching someone who can and will overrule that rep's decision and set the situation right. I've had a couple of those and it's very frustrating to get it fixed.
