I purchased the 6DmkII and am very happy with it.
My upgrade was from the 3ti I kept it along with the lenses for backup reasons.

With the upgraded full frame body I purchased a 24-105F4 and a 16-35F4
The upgraded glass is wonderful over the ef-s lenses.
Cost was the major reason for the compromise on the Body but I also really wanted the flexible back screen for tripod mounted live shots. The touch screen along with the ease of use were also big in my book.

Hope this helps

My main cameras from late 2007 were a pair of 1DsIII's. Superb Cameras. I was waiting for a High MP 1 series camera that never came. I bought a 5D4 & Battery grip when it came out to have the same form factor, and I absolutely love the camera --- but the camera is less important than the lenses. The newest versions of the 16-35 f/2.8 L (III) 24-70 2.8 L (II) and the 70-200 f2.8 L (II?) are absolutely incredible lenses. And they take full advantage of the 5D4's 30 MP If you can, Go for It

I love my Rebel T6i but I think it’s time for a full frame camera. Trying to get opinions on which is the right choice.
I have heard good things about both.
Money is not a concern, but being a novice I’m not sure which way to go. I’m not looking to be a professional but I have been told I am a decent amateur.

I plan on adding a 24-70 and a 70-200 as well as a good macro.
I like making landscapes and just started some still life projects, not interested in portraits. Suggestions and opinions are welcome. Thanks

The Canon 24-70 II or III (2.8) or whatever the latest is - is an exceptional lens ! - but do not discount the f4 version. With 70-200, I would lean toward the f4 II OR, going longer/cheaper, the 70-300 IS II nano. The 5D IV is an awesome camera, but mirror less IS the future.

Hopefully you will get some good feedback from those who have experience with both. I have the 5D Mk IV, and am very pleased with it. Super camera and does everything I need! (Mostly portraits and sports like soccer, gymnastics, basketball and equestrian events.) Super low light performance.

Good luck to you! Let us know what you get, and show some results!!!

Mike

Thanks Mike

I was in a similar position to you a few years ago and instead went for the EOS 6D (Mark I). And boy what a camera. Recently though when considering an upgrade (yes it happens) I looked seriously at the 5D IV BUT decided on the EOS R (whilst keeping the 6D too). The R is a beautiful camera and mirrorless IS the future.

If you are not in a hurry, there is a new Canon mirrorless on the way the R5. Sounds great.

The 5D would be my choice too. But when I went to pull the trigger, I bought an EOS R instead. It came with an adapter to use my Canon full frame lenses. I've never looked back. Plus the EOS R is less expensive than the 5D. Just a thought for your consideration. The 5D will be fine too.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide.
