The math isn't difficult. You just have to observe and think.

In the absence of parenthesis the order of operation is MDAS.
Six shoes = 30 so shoes are 5 each.
Two shoes and 2 boys = 20. Take away the 10 we know the two shoes are worth and 2 boys = 10 so boys are 5 each.
Four cones and one boy = 13. Take away the 5 we know the boy is worth and 4 cones = 8 so cones are 2 each. So you have 19 x 2 = 38 first. Then 5 + 38 = 43. The boy is holding 2 cones and wearing 2 shoes making his total value 19. That is multiplied by the 2 value of one cone. Add the 5 value of one shoe for the answer, 43.

OK, I changed my mind. Here is what I come up with:

2 shoes = 10 therefore 1 shoe =5
Boy = 5
2 bouquets = 4 therefore 1 bouquet = 2

Final formula is:

1 shoe + (boy holding 2 bouquets and wearing 2 shoes) X 1 bouquet which would numerically be 5 + (5+4+10) X 2 or 5+19X2. Using the MDAS method of solving that would then be 5+38=43 (final answer).

The boy is holding 2 cones making his total value 9. That is multiplied by the 2 value of one cone. Add the 5 value of one shoe for the answer, 23.

Interesting that computer spreadsheets will not agree with MDAS. Lack of brackets will regard the multiplier sign as a plus sign. My non-math logic would apply everything from left to right, with the result applied before moving onward.

Shoes 10 - (10+10+10=30)

Boy 5 - (5+5+10=20)

Cone 4 - (4+4+5=13)

Answer - (10+5=15 x 4=60)

48 or 43 depending on if you are using MDAS (which I suppose you should be since no ()'s) so final answer 43.

Oops, I'm wrong. Didn't notice the one shoe.

5+5=10 x 4=40

Shoes =10 2 shoes
Boy =5
Cone =4 two cones

Boy + 2cones =9

5 + (9*2) = 23 using regular operator precedence 1 shoe =5 boy has 2 cones

or

(5+9)*2 = 28

I agree with this solution. I always was taught that you do exponential operations first, then multiplication and division operations and then addition and subtraction. So I also go with 30 for the solution.
