I had a Pontiac - it was great car, but they stopped making them so I bought an Oldsmobile. The Olds was a great car too, but they stopped that as well so I bought a Mercury. Well, guess what, they don't make those any more.

If there is another brand of car you don't like, let me know. It seems they stop building whatever brand I buy.

The only car I said anything about was early Toyotas. I don't understand your post.

But it is alright to elect someone like Obama who had no outside experience in the world except being a community organizer, and had only been in Congress a very short time before running for President.

That's for finishers!

Masks? A virus is 1/9 the size of a human hair. A mask is going to stop that? These masks are something that the government is forcing on people. This whole thing is a scam.

"This whole thing is a scam." Are you saying that there has not been Covid 19 virus that so far has reportedly infected over a million people in this country? Are you saying that there have not been thousands of people who have been diagnosed with the virus and who later died? Are you suggesting that the President sent two hospital ships to different ports as part of a scam? Are you suggesting that the President and his Corona team are going on television nearly everyday to promote a scam? Are you suggesting that the severe decline, if not collapse, of the economy, not only here, but across the globe is part of some sort of scam? I am not an expert on the physical size of a virus, but thought it was much smaller than 1/9 the size of a human hair. As far as the effectiveness of a mask, it is my understanding that when we wear a mask, the purpose is help protect others from the particles we emit when we breath or especially when we cough or sneeze. Obvivously a mask cannot prevent the particles from getting into the air around us, but it can help the limit to which they are initially expelled. Mike, if you believe that this Covid 19 thing is just a scam, why don't you tell someone who has lost a loved one to this scourge, that they didn't die from the Corona virus, but instead were merely a victim of a government scam.

Fix them a burger at home! Today's children don't get enough home time with their parents anyway. They aren't taught what the really important things in life are anymore.

Lots of kids are feeling like they are getting too much home time with parents.

Where are you getting your information for cryin out loud. Toyota's are and have been made right here in America for quite awhile now. I use to deliver parts and chemicals to their plant in Kentucky. And when Toyotas first appeared in our Country they were "JUNK"! Don't talk about unreliable Oldsmobiles either. One of the best cars I ever owned was a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I put nothing but Valvoline oil in it, and put over 280,000 miles on it before trading it in on a Pontiac Bonneville. Still can't figure out why they stopped building Pontiacs. In my lifetime I owned 4 Pontiacs and never had a bad one.

In 1977 when I graduated and got a job, I bought a Corolla. Both it and the Honda Civic were more highly rated for reliability and overall cost of ownership than any other sub-compact cars. In 92.5K miles, I used two sets of tires, a battery, a set of plugs, a water pump, and a thermostat. That’s it, other than filters, oil, grease, gasoline, and antifreeze. I traded for a car with air conditioning (It was hell in the summer when wearing suits.)

My company president’s secretary drove a 1976 Corolla over 384,000 miles.

The first gen Corolla debuted in 1968. It is rated the fourth most reliable of 12 generations of Corollas.

Now, if you’re talking about the Toyopet from the 1950s, maybe that had problems. I wasn’t aware of the brand at all until the early 1970s.

Yes, I know they’ve made Corollas, Siennas, Camrys, Avalons, and other models in the USA for decades. The Prius is still made in Japan.

Our Olds was awful. I didn’t expect that from a high end car.

The only way that I am "forced" to go to Walmart is if they are the only store in town that carries what I need and then only if I can't get it from Amazon.

I absolutely do not like Wally World. I blame them for the current state of our dependence upon China--trying to sell cheap goods for some instead of quality goods for all. If they had stuck with USA suppliers back 50 years ago, there would not be the overabundance of cheap Chinese crap.

The wouldn't supply then if there were no demand for those cheap goods. You can place the blame squarely on the consumers them selves. There isn't much you touch through out your day that doesn't contain something that comes from China or elsewhere. I am willing to bet if you look at some of the products that claim to be "Made in the USA" actually have some sub component of it made somewhere else inside of it.

Perhaps it is time to climb down off your "how bad China is" high horse, before you fall off it and hurt yourself.

Here on Hawaii Island finally everyone is catching on to the need to wear a mask when entering a store. I expect bare face shaming to become the norm everywhere as this pandemic continues. Most stores here at least require employees and store entrants to wear masks. Which leads me to the first winner of the "Bare Face Shame Award", the so-called head of the White House Corona Virus Coordination effort, Mike Pence. He was widely videod yesterday wandering the halls of the Mayo Clinic, the only one not wearing a mask and his excuse was that as Vice President he is frequently tested but is always getting negative results. The shame of this exhibition is bad and sad on so many levels it's hard to know even where to begin so I won't but still...

THe simple fact is that except for the n95 mask, they are virtually worthless. As long as the 6 ft separation is maintained a mask is not needed. Iwish it were that simple--wear a mask, no covid 19. But it just aint so. The mask may actually make things worse, as there is increased face touching because of the mask.

Gawd, that just has to be the most stupid, misinformed post of the thread, amongst some really stupid posts.

And you really think we can be competitive in the world or even at home with our labor rates?

Dream on. People buy because they are happy with the price.
If you don’t like the quality don’t buy them . There are other choices all over. Buy Carhart - wears like the dickens ( oh by the way it’s made in Mexico .

Perhaps it’s not that you’re buying China - it’s that you buying cheap.

China is today wiping boy because of the trump/ Navarro populism. They make whatever want and sell at a price we like . If you don’t like it don’t buy it.
