What alternative?
China or other Asian countries manufacture stuff Americans want and need and sell it at a price Americans are happy with.
The is the definition of a good contract. A willing seller and a willing buyer.
Masks do not protect you from contamination but are worn by health care providers to keep from contamination of the patient. Just a little info in a time of confusion.
Dr. Gary
dennis2146 is a troll. No ability to document or reference statements made. The government did not allow our businesses to move off shore, corporate need for profit did. To be quite honest, very little you touch, use or perhaps even see anymore does not have some aspect of it manufactured in China. (Along with a host of other countries in the world) India is a global leader in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals. I could go on and on. This is easily researched through reputable sources.
As far as the mask thing goes with Pence. Fine, great, as a healthcare (RN) worker I am all for it. Why? People are not adhering to practices that will help slow down and eliminate the virus. As long as they are clamoring for "normal" and not doing what it takes to return to "normal" the virus will continue to spread. It is no longer isolated. It is nation wide and in every neighborhood. When we open up and people do what people do, it is going to explode. We can also blame this administration for it's slow reaction and lack of actually using the Defense Act to produce what we need to combat the virus (masks, test kits, PPE etc.) So with that being said..... let the tRumpsters eat aquarium cleaner, ingest bleach, stick UV lights up their rectums and go back to a "normal" life without masks or regard for others. Yes we as healthcare workers will suffer, the Nation will suffer, yet ultimately the virus will run it's course, we will get a new administration and will nation build a better democracy than the one we are experiencing now.

Sorry. I thought it was obvious from the way the conversation went. The alternative is getting back to Americans making things in America for Americans and then to sell to other countries. Our politicians from way back have spent more time building up other countries and while at it, taking jobs from Americans. We have slowly, like frogs in hot water, allowed it to happen to the point where America, once the front runner of manufacturing anything and everything no longer seems to manufacture much of anything.
I have gotten into the habit of wearing sweat pants just to work around the house. I wear sweat pants and T shirts about 90% of the time. I have been buying sweatpants at Walmart for the most part because they are about $8.00. But the problem is that the stitching after a few months starts to come undone on every pair of sweats I have bought, probably eight of them. Now I realize that they are only 8.00 but on the other hand I need to repair the stitching on all of them. I would much prefer to pay $16.00 for sweatpants that would last for a few years and not fall apart. Almost everyone who discusses goods made in china makes note of the poor quality of those goods, no matter if they are clothing, salt and pepper shakers, pot holders, plastic wear, whatever. We all use the items and when they fail, sometimes too soon, we tell ourselves that they were only Chinese junk to begin with because we EXPECTED the goods to fail. Seriously is that how people should expect things purchased with good money to last? In many cases there are toys sold for American children that have proven to be unsafe. So the toys get thrown away.
Is there anyone who can say, I purchase Chinese goods all the time and just love them for their quality and long use? I doubt many can say that.
Perhaps it really is time for all of us as Americans to give China the finger and the boot and start insisting that we purchase goods made in America for the good of our own country.

I find myself wondering just, why, so many people think that wearing a mask will give them protection.
The mask will greatly help you to keep from giving it to others.
It will help you not to get it in an indirect way. On the average a person touches their faces, mouth and nose about 23 times an hour. So by wearing a mask in public will also help remind you not to touch your face. This is because there are so many non-compliant ding-dongs that may be asymptomatic and have left their effluent for you to enjoy. Now you can take off your mask and immediately wash your hands. Think about it.

Masks? A virus is 1/9 the size of a human hair. A mask is going to stop that? These masks are something that the government is forcing on people. This whole thing is a scam.

If a politician or any public figure wanted to impress me or give me “ hope and a sense of purpose” they would be wearing a mask in any public place. Assuming the responsibility that comes with being a politician or prominent public person puts them absolutely in a position to do what has been deemed necessary to provide “ hope and a sense of purpose.
These public examples “ MUST” start at the top with the people that have the responsibility to protect everybody. Authorative people in my past such as my parents, coaches, teachers, bosses etc. have always made more impression on me when they actually led by example. Only when they actually got down in the trenches and worked with me and for me did they have a greater impact on my ability to see that there is a way to get through, over or around difficult situations in my life.
It’s time for such leading people in our lives including the President and Vice President to start acting and doing the responsible things necessary to give us “ hope and a sense of purpose” when they are out in public.

Thank you so much. I haven't been called a troll before. Many other things but never a troll. I imagine you are then one of the Billy goats.
Just thinking back I seem to recall both Billy Bob Clinton AND his twin brother Barack Obama Clinton wanting to build up businesses in backward shit hole countries. It seems they succeeded pretty well didn't they. Now WTF were you saying?
I won't waste my valuable time talking about President Trump only to say he IS using the defense act already and has been. As for those who are ingesting cleaners and bleach while putting lights up their rectum (rectum, hell, damn near killed him. Sorry I couldn't resist the humor brought on by your ignorant asinine post) you should pay more attention to the real world instead of your made up Liberal La La Land world. The aquarium cleaner case is being looked at by homocide investigators so it would seem on that accord you are full of crap. As for the rest of those you mentioned with lights and cleaners it is obvious that it is only Liberals who are drinking and ingesting those dangerous products. As for the light it is also obvious that Liberals are looking in a dark place for their heads. Any Conservative could have said that Liberals have their heads up their butts. But being a good little Liberal it appears you felt the need to use a light to check for sure. Conservatives are smart enough to read labels or check with their doctor before injecting things like that into their body no matter which orifice they use. Damn my friend, you should have known that all by yourself. Didn't yo mama tell you nothin?

Well, I'm jumping in late on this one. I wonder what kind of reaction I will get for this? If Covid-19 would make Pelosi wear a mask, I would recommend an annual outbreak just like the flu. What a beautiful world it would be if SOMETHING would make her wear a mask year-round, all the time.
What? You never heard of sarcasm?

I would be all for it and I can tell you as a long-time supporter and employee of WalMart, they would not only endorse such a move, they would be the bandleader. Here is what could be expected: Suddenly WalMart states 70% of everything they sell will be American made (let's face it, some stuff like digital cameras will never be made in America again so we'll never get to 100% American made). People will flock to WalMart like never before. Then a year later they see they can purchase a similar product at Target or on Amazon for 40% less than the American made product they were looking at in WalMart. WalMart's business crumbles. The 3% that said they would never shop WalMart (statistics show 97% of all Americans shop WalMart at some point each year). anyway those 3% have began shopping WalMart because of their American stance along with all the other WalMart loyalists. Now that loyal base crumbles because of the price differences and the 3% will go back to their hypocrisy of not buying WalMart when they are still supporting other companies that do exactly the same thing they protest WalMart doing.

Dream on. People buy because they are happy with the price.
If you don’t like the quality don’t buy them . There are other choices all over. Buy Carhart - wears like the dickens ( oh by the way it’s made in Mexico .
Perhaps it’s not that you’re buying China - it’s that you buying cheap.
China is today wiping boy because of the trump/ Navarro populism. They make whatever want and sell at a price we like . If you don’t like it don’t buy it.
