Photoshop Elements 2020 & DNG files not loading in the PSE Organizer.

I could really use some pointers here.....please.

I have Photoshop Elements 2020. The PS EDITOR will open .dng files for editing. (I use lightroom for photo organization and routine post processing...thus .dng files)

However, the PS ORGANIZER application will not open .dng files. It shows a placeholder in the grid panel (with a "?" indicator). When I click on the placeholder it tries to "reconnect" and goes searching across my 2 hard drives and the NAS. If I point the reconnect function to the specific hard disk folder, it still searches.

I've reinstalled PSE and I've downloaded the latest version of the RAW support plug ins.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much.

Dave

I also have trouble with 2020. I purchased it from Best Buy about 6 month ago and it will not do anything. When I try to access it I get "Your trial period has expired" The box says: "Adobe Premiere Elements 2020" and nothing is said about a trial period. So looks like I have just lost the $59.99 plus tax which I paid. You have my sympathies. As this year I am 87 years old and presumably a short timer I will take no action. I've lost a lot more on the stock market since the virus struck. I say beware of Adobe.

Did you buy the software on CD or download? Either way, where is your serial number? The trail period is resolved by entering the serial number. Have you asked Best Buy or Adobe for help?

What are you trying to accomplish in PS Organizer with your DNG that you said is being managed in Lightroom? As a PSE 2020 owner, you can contact Adobe for technical support of this current product. Visit the Adobe.com site, find support and find Contact us. Use the Technical Support Chat option.

Premiere Elements is intended for use on videos. Your purchased copy probably included a trial version of Photoshop Elements for still photos. They are two different products and not interchangeable but can be purchased together as a bundle.

I apologize if I have misunderstood your issue.

It was on sale at Best Buy for $59.99. Best buy was no help but I haven't called Adobe with the serial number yet. I am thoroughly disgusted with whole thing and am going to drop it. It is obviously intended more for videos but I loaded some 6000 slide show photos which I can no longer access. Looks like I bought something without understanding what I was getting. My tough luck.

To Dave, the OP: I've never used the Organizer, but I agree with Chg_Canon that contacting Adobe may be your best option. I looked for solutions via Google and only saw reference to a 10-year old question that was no longer available to view.

I'm curious also about your seeming dual organization systems (LR and PSE Organizer), your purpose? And is there any possibility LR is doing "something" to the dng to make it invisible to PSE Organizer? Can you take some new photos, convert to dng, and rather than import via LR, just transfer them to a folder on your HD and then see if Organizer can find them?

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say Thanks for the quick feedback. I probably worked on this for several hours today and figured out it was a Hard Disk "pointer" issue, but couldn't solve it by myself. As recommended(CHG Cannon & Linda), I contacted Adobe support and their technician was excellent. Took about 30 min to ID the problem.....which was my "C" and "D" drives had the same hexadecimal volume ID. This occured when I installed a new SSID drive several years ago. It hasn't caused any problems until I started using Photoshop Elements organizer. Photoshop Editor and Lightroom work fine. Photoshop Organizer uses the drive hexadecimal vol ID to determine where the photos are located. Lightroom and Photoshop Editor uses the alpha drive ID.

Solution: download a utility and rename the D drive hexadecimal Volume ID.

A special thanks to CHG Cannon and Linda for the coaching.

Dave

that is very surprising. I didn’t think Windows would allow 2 drives with the same hex signature to be online simultaneously, and if that was the cause, I am even more surprised the tech found it.
