The hospitals become more profitable by keeping spending 'close to the bone.
The states can always find other uses for money.
The federal government is supposed to be "supplier of last resort" but they don't seem to have kept things up.
Thus, when New York looked at the future last month, they saw a Tsunami of cases and no way to prepare for it. Andrew Cuomo was wise to try to prepare, and the people's behavior made things less bad than it had seemed, so they get credit for thinking farther ahead of the curve than actually happened.

Supplier of last resort means after those masks and ventilators from Cuomo have all been used. You are correct. I get that. Problem is my friend, NYS apparently didn’t have ANY or very few that they were supposed to have. They could have purchased the needed items but apparently Cuomo used the money to buy something else. Now I ask you, is that the fault of President Trump OR Governor Cuomo. I am going with door number 1 and Cuomo.
Doesn’t it seem that President Trump saved Cuomo’s butt?
Let’s see what others think. Survey SAYS____________?

This isn’t a matter of the current people involved.
I doubt if President Trump purchased any ventilators, and I am quite certain that did not use his own money to purchase any.
The US store {which was accumulated by one more previous administrations} was used to supply what New York needed at a time of emergency.
It is for a later, more dispassionate, time to determine what was appropriate for the various states to have had and why they did or did not have that.

Dennis, The question is - should the President require that the needed medical masks and PPE, the test reagents and whatever else is needed, the production of at least gloves and masks for all US citizens of any state or city, etc. are being filled by the companies that have the ability to produce them or increase their production of them so they are once again on store shelves. These should be made in the USA. If we have to spend money and do spend money, the majority of that money should stay in the USA and create jobs here. We shouldn't have the Governor of a state use his Korean wife to phone another country and keep at it so one state out of 50 has the number of Covid-19 tests that that state or any other state needs anywhere in the USA.
And, did you see or hear or read about any of what was happening with ventilators? Trump allowed state officials across the USA to compete with each other to get ventilators from US or foreign manufacturers, then the Federal Government declared that only the Federal Government could order the ventilators, negating all state 'orders'. Once the ventilators arrived here, our Government did not take possession of the sealed boxes and distribute them the the states that had ordered them. Instead, the Government sent them to wholesalers to sell to the highest bidder, making a last minute and completely unnecessary profit from the American fight against the Covid-19 virus. Or do you agree with any of this????? Patriotic is not a word that comes to mind. Stupid is not the word that comes to mind. Certainly un-American. Certainly appalling. Certainly disgusting.

First off I have not been paying a lot of attention to those who want to, forgive my wording, quibble about a Korean wife calling another country. I did not hear about that on television news nor on any Internet feed.
Yes I think if California orders something, anything and pays for it then that item should go to California. I haven’t heard this is being run differently. I would need to read the story to see what is really going on from other points of view just as I think you would. My thinking though is if California ordered them and paid for them on an invoice then California has ownership when they arrive.
What I have heard though is our states have been very good about sharing ventilators or whatever is needed with other states. I would expect and demand that behavior as a citizen.
To your first question I have heard that President Trump has worked with numerous companies here at home to manufacture ventilators and masks. Am I mistaken or have you not heard the same thing?
As for unAmerican, unpatriotic and other words I saw John Kerry on television two nights ago saying Americans should back CHINA. Yes that is right, CHINA. How do you feel about that? China created the virus either by mistake or on purpose, it came from China, China has lied to the world every step of the way even pushing the narrative that the virus was developed by the CIA. And Kerry says we need to back China. Hmmmm.
I have no proof other than reading it online this morning, that Obama funded the Wuhan virus laboratory with 3 1/2 Million dollars of our tax money. I am sure if you look you can find it on Google. If true how do you feel about that interesting tidbit? Talk about your basic unpatriotic huh.

The Governor of Maryland - Larry Hogan (R) - is married to a woman from South Korea. She used her connections to import a plane load of test kits from South Korea. The Trump administration said he didn’t need to import them. Hogan said that Trump had told the states they were on their own. I don’t personally know what the truth is.

Nor do I. IF the governor’s wife used her connections to bring in test kits isn’t that a good thing?
As for the rest of it if you don’t know what the truth is then I am not sure why you would bring it up. Maybe we should wait to see.
You know as well as I do there are Liberals here who will push any negative narrative about Trump, true or not. I won’t join in.

Sorry my friend you are jumping all over the place with different subjects and times so much I have no idea what you are talking about. I welcome anyone who can translate.

Sad that it's always those Liberals that are tearing down the country. Thank God for rightwing conservatives who are making America great again. Wonder how many of you will be adding shots of disinfectant to your Trump cool aide.

There is only one subject here - ventilators - and only two three times -the past which is past, the present, the future. I am sorry you cannot follow the logic.

Not so fast my friend. You are talking about Trump, different governors and one Korean wife, different states and who gets what because Trump did something. It appears to be you who is confused. But now you try to put it on me. Nope not going to happen. Maybe you need to practice your writing skills. Most people who would try to read your last post would not keep up either.
We started off discussing pleasantly but then you tried to play the Gotcha game as you Left Wingers do. You only GOT you.

My first choice in 2016 was John Kasich.
