Our wealth is in our people themselves - and we are going to save as many of them as we are able.

We are, indeed, broke. Our 22 trillion dollar debt equates to about $67,000 for every man, woman and child.

As I stated in my response, but numbers of people dying every day is still the issue isn't it? I dont want to be a Covid victim any more than I want terminal cancer. Right now there are far more people dreading the diagnosis of cancer than this virus, it just doesn't make the news.

Hey TriX, I agree with you, but I'm bowing out. This thread is getting too political for me.

Well, this WAS a medical conversation, but as usual, it has turned political. So I will answer you in kind.

President Trump spends an hour per day telling the world that he is responsible for nothing, that he can do anything he pleases regardless of the constitution, that he and “his team have done an “incredible” (one of the few adjectives along with “great” that he knows) job, deriding his opponents and congress, complimenting the world’s dictators and authoritarian governments, and bullying anyone who asks him a difficult question. This disguised as a news conference where everyone has apparently been instructed to begin their statements with: “at the president’s direction...” How presidential.

I never said he was a nice guy. I knew that the first time I voted for him. I will still know that when I vote for him again. I didn't hire him to be warm and fuzzy, I have a teddy bear for that. And I can't say how lucky I feel to know he will still be here when we get back to work. He is the best person, by far, to get the country back on it's feet. And with the pressure he is under, he is doing a heroic job to do just that.
Started out a medical discussion? Really? I guess you missed the first post with the, oh so sly, dig about Mira Lago.

I saw that most of the naysayers were making political statements also but stayed away from it.
I full suspect that nearly all of those wanted/ protesting for immediate opening up are doing it fir political reason to support trump. Why I don’t know he has accomplished nothing in nearly four years except putting Americans against each other.

Tell us what trump has accomplished :

Failed North Korea negotiation
Failed Iran negotiation
Failed Afghanistan negotiation
Tax policy you brag about made millions for the corporations
Falling job creation compared to last 3 years of Obama
Failed trade policy driving more job loss and bankruptcy rise..
Manufacturing job. Loss
Skyrocketing annual budget deficits and nation debt in times of good economy
I guess you consider those his accomplishments.

Just like he failed in every business he ever had he had failed at managing this crisis and once again divided Americans instead of the true presidential act of representing bathe entire country . The only thing trump is good at is selling his name .

My political statement ,

With our economy behind it, this debt is 'not serious' - those with funds are still willing to buy our bonds.
And don't give me any nonsense about our economy being 'broken'.
The purpose of this current 'time out' is to allow those workers to resume.

The whole purpose of this time-out is to get things under control so they can go back to what they were doing.

Apparently, an MSM aficionado!!! Power to the Ostriches!!!!! Maybe, just maybe, do your own research instead of taking what MSM says as the 'Word of God'.
Your "political statement" holds no water.

It is too bad if Lowe's, Home Depot, and the local hardware store cannot give you curbside service as we get.
It is nice to have them lug heavy stuff out to your car. [/quote]

Guess who just delivered a power washer to my front porch, an hour ago. I plan on using it at night to avoid the neighbors from reporting me to the governor for this non-essential purchase.

Don’t kid yourself. The interest we pay on that debt is enormous . In 2020! It is near 500 billion. That’s before this Latest.
Essentially nearly half our annual budget is paying interest on the debt.
That’s broke !!!

I agree - but in normal times, no one since Bill Clinton has balanced the budget. Usually the budget they submit isn't even balanced, and then Republicans and Democrats in Congress compromise by taking turns by adding spending. They should have made Barry Goldwater's tomb into a generator - think how much energy we could make by his turning over in his grave!
