[quote=kvanhook]When I read the words "China virus" I don't think less of Chinese people. Like was said, it was a geographical starting point, not an attack on the people there.

The only problem is that several Asians have been physically and verbally attacked. The same thing happened after 9/11 when some Congressman referred to somebody as a "rag head", when he was actually referring to somebody from India who was a Seik (SP)! So this has just as much to do with leadership leading the lessor of us into hate--it's happened throughout history--maybe someday it will change to avoid having to always find the boggie-man.

China's Three Gorges Dam affected the world's earthquakes more than another manmade structure. Just search for that on Google. The dam has shifted the earth's axis a very small but measurable amount.

Referring to the original post. The tectonic plates are continuously moving. This builds up stresses. If moving trucks and trains stimulate bursts that release the pressures from time to time , is that worse than waiting for the natural limits to be reached that will release much greater energy in one massive burst?

Interesting article.

We had a 6.5 earthquake here in Idaho last week. Second strongest in the state's history.

This pandemic still seems to be giving Mother Nature a break, though.

Stay well.

How about the "Hong Kong flu" of 1969? That was not a racist comment, it just meant a starting point of a disease. Does the "Tasmanian devil" reflect open our friends down there? Can I eat "Brazil nuts" without thinking about the people there? And we have the "Portuguese man of War in our local oceans, and the "Portuguese water dog" walking around in our parks. Does that make the Portuguese people somehow inferior? How about the "German measles"? Is that a direct attack on our German friends, many of whom are our ancestors. Please, get over this PC stuff. Calling something a name based on origin has nothing to do with racist thought. At lease not in this case.

Kudos! If we were to implicate a race for where a problem began, the most hated people on the earth would be the Spanish for the Spanish Flu, or maybe the Germans for the virus that was Adolf Hitler!

Thank you.
I just thought it was an interesting thought as the quakes have not been as violent as in the past, just more frequent.
No proof but just wondering.

It appears that this China Flu is good for the Earth. Seismologists have found the Earth is not vibrating as much from Trucks, Trains etc. especially in highly populated areas.
Just a theory, is it possible all this vibration causing the tectonic plates to vibrate and cause the rise in earthquakes?
Just a thought that struck me as reading this.

In response to the original post. There is less vibration being detected on the planet. That may or may not be a good thing. As for calling this the "China Virus" that is divisive, and other remarks posted here. Now is not the time to point fingers or throw stones. Now is the time to be supportive of each other. By what ever events or circumstance caused this situation we are now all in this together. We need not cast dispersion on others. A virus does not discriminate, if we do we a reduced to being less than a micro organism. I would prefer to be better than that. I follow the numbers of the fall out of this horrific event hourly. My soul grieves for all of the, mothers, sons, daughters, husbands, sisters, grandparents, who have succumb to this virus. So for me I would like to say only post beautiful pictures and supportive comments on this web site. May your God Bless you, and stay safe. Next month I want everyone who reads this to still be around.

Except it is doubtful that the Spanish flu began in Spain: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu and although German Measles (Rubella) was first described by German physicians, it isn’t clear where it originated: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubella

Not really that far fetched.I worked with a Native American a few years back who stated that if the earth wanted to tke back the planet, it would be able to do so easily. Look at how easily vegetation can, and does, take over paved areas, buildings, and can easily pull apart man made things. We are the intruders here.
