I prefer reality in my photography. Dragging a shutter to turn running water into salt-water taffy fails to impress me. All too often it results in very poorly made images achieved with little or no control of the camera.

I'm amazed. The obvious preference here flies in the face of every pro photographer's instruction that I have found. Oh well, to each his own.

Anyone who has sold a photo is a professional. That does not mean that he or she is worth a damn. I have never sold a photo; preferring to to give my work to anyone who enjoys it.

I like natural water taken with a high shutter speed. Slow shutter milky water is a turn off and looks fake.

I prefer natural movement - "silky" is a bit of a gimmick in my opinion.

Waterfalls or incoming waves, whatever. Fast shutter stops the motion and a slow shutter gives it an artsy effect. Depends how the photographer interprets it.

I like water that looks wet, and save marsh mellow for a sandwich.

I prefer the fast shutter speed. Great topic for discussion.
