I’d at lease get a few quotes, I was quoted $700 for a low ambient switch and checked around and bought the OEM switch for $60 and I will pay a guy $50 to put it in. I had a complete 1 1/2 ton unit with a new gas heater installed for $3600. The $1209 is crazy.

Yes, it is made in America. in New Hampshire, Having an original one made in 1956 I believe in Germany, I want to see the super quality of the US model.

The story is much different today than it was on Monday. The company I use for HVAC ordered a part Monday, came in yesterday, and were to come out today to fix it. When the tech got here today he told me that he had been on the phone with the mfg and wanted to run more tests before he installed the new valve.
Turns out the low voltage system was incorrectly wired at both the furnace end and the outside unit end. Interestingly it all worked fine last summer ..... When the unit calls for 'cool' the heating circuit is turned on and when it calls for heat, the heating unit is turned on.....
We had a different company here back in January for our 'winter checkup'. I'll get to the punch line - it worked fine last summer, we had our winter check up and last week when I tried to turn on the AC I got heat instead - because it was wired wrong ..... What you're missing in this story is the used car salesman from the 'winter checkup' company may have been one of the slimiest characters that's ever been in my house. I cancelled our agreement with them 30 minutes after he left back in January because I knew he was a con man.
I'm at a point that I can't prove any of this because it's been fixed and there'd be nothing but finger pointing if I pursued it.
Today's visit with repair (and 3 lbs of refrigerant) was $315 - so, I'm good.

Dang! I’d like to think that no one would do that to someone but this world is so full of scammers it’s just crazy. I will give you my opinion on anyone doing “checkups” just don’t! I know they get a lot of people but it’s a worthless service. Think of it like your refrigerator or freezer, you don’t have them checked on but just fix it if something goes bad. I was an installer for a few years and still maintain (minor stuff) all of my current jobs HVAC units and it’s more than I can count right off and none get a checkup, I have units that have not been touched for the 9 years I been there except a good coil clean that I do once a year and a filter change every 30 days.

I'm right there with you - never again on an annual "program". The guy from January said I should actually replace the system - it was new in 2014 - I laughed at him.

I would buy 2 Volkswagens. When I went back to the states from East Germany I paid $1,225.00 for a new one with a radio and sunroof. So now its not even a down payment on one. OH well my first car a bought was a 2 door Model A and that was $5.00 resold it for $10.00 bubbled my money.

Received our tax refund in 8 days from submitting. Blew me away. It has never come that fast. Hoping this relief check comes as fast. I'm lucky, my husband's trucking company is going gangbusters. They actually need more people to work in the warehouse. I'm thinking I should learn how to operate a forklift truck. Thinking about it.
The money from the stimulus will just sit in the bank account until needed. All the hustle and bustle can go either way. I want to have as much of an edge as possible. Stay safe & healthy.
