My 2019 taxes aren't filed yet so they will have to use my 2018 taxes to calculate my check. My 2018 taxes were based on too much income so I won't get a check. My amended 2018 taxes are OK so I will get the full amount. The amended taxes went in in January and they expect to get me a refund in May. Don't know which version of the 2018 taxes will be used for the calculation. If I get anything it will go to the 2019 taxes.

I think the point of the checks is that a very large percentage of people in the US are living from paycheck to paycheck or less. My guess is that most of them will spend the money to survive and the money will go into the economy directly and quickly and help other people who are working and need the money.

Reading our replies I suspect that many of us, as evidenced by our interest in photography--not an inexpensive hobby--are in the income range where we won't get a check or will not need to spend it right away. I'm happy for us but we're a minority in the US when it comes to needing the money to get by.

I would need it if not working.
But doing critical design work to keep Many hospitals and clinics running and meeting new capacity requirements I am actually busy. Just fortunate as there are many out of work including some family members. Our internal construction staff are doing 60+ hour weeks and we still have tents.

Will be giving it to my employer since they have put me on paid leave. I can't see making a profit from this disaster.

At my age (74), I want to pay down my debts as much as possible in case something should happen to me. I will pay off the remaining balance on one of my credit cards, and donate $400.00 to Samaritan’s Purse.

Much as I’d like to spend it on the new camera I’ve been considering, we will probably donate ours to someone who needs the help.

Does a person have to apply for this handout? Or, will it come automatically?
If one is still employed and getting paid, does that disqualify from receiving the stimulus check?

Since my income won’t change without it I’m thinking Food Bank and Shriners hospital. I hope my grandkids enjoy how I’m spending their money. Too bad so many took your money to fund their own pet projects ie; Kennedy Center, who are laying off their musicians despite a huge endowment and $25,000,000.00 windfall. Jerks!

I’m in the live theatre business and I am shocked at what’s going on at Kennedy. I’d not let them have the money if they could stop it.
