This is not a new photo, but might give ideas for those who have lawns and lawn ornaments

The metal flamingo was hanging on my storage room door on my balcony. One day I noticed the angle of the sun gave it a humorously large and distorted shadow.

.

"Does this shadow make me look fat?"

The shadow on the pure white background makes it look like a black and white photo. The color of the flamingo gives the appearance of "selective color". I like this a lot.

Thanks Linda. Gives me the idea for some strong shadows. Great idea.

Thanks Erich! I had to do a lot of work to make my cream-colored door disappear into white oblivion

Appreciated, Jim! My original interest in light and shadows came from a year-long black and white film class in 1990. I remember putting a small decorative glass vase on my table, resting a flashlight beside it aimed at and through the glass and taking the pic. Low tech setup

Send me your original picture PM if you would I would like to try a couple of things to remove the door color. If they work like I think I will walk you through the steps. The idea I have take only 3 to 4 steps.

Alas, that was taken in 2015 and all pics from that year are gone (don't ask; it's too depressing to share). But thank you. When we have another bright sunny day I'll recreate the scene

Good idea for the times. A camera group I belong to has been shooting the alphabet, not just finding the letters, and being a nature group, I have tried to shoot nature subjects. Not as easy as it sounds as I try not to do snapshot but try to produce something I really like to view. I like the black and white of this shot. Very cool.

OK. This is a shot of a couple of U-haul boxes on a bedroom floor illuminated by a south-facing window with venetian blinds.
