A few years back we had a rental car stolen on a trip to San Francisco. We have Chubb insurance (homeowners) and they covered everything: extensive camera equipment, several laptops, some minor jewelry and a nice pair of binoculars (it all was locked in the trunk). Filed a police report and one with Hertz. Nothing ever turned up.
Chubb covered it all less a $500 deductible. We felt lucky/glad we had it.
