Haha.
We have a dog, ours are closed.
But I subscribe to the mantra: If it's up, put it down; if it's down put it up.
Why do people make such the big deal of it?
Don't they check before they sit?
Are they too lazy to move it?
If one has a dog/cat, the lid always has to be moved.
We once had a little tiny house cat, she never got over 5lbs her entire life, Ginnie loved to race into a room and jump onto things...a couple of these 'jumps' right into the open toilet convinced use to keep the lid closed on both toilets (she got stuck head first in one episode, under water, only a lucky wet cat plucking saved her). That was 30 years ago, we still keep the lid down, and who wants to see the "working/repository" side of the toilet anyway!!! My kids and grands always leave it up when here... and I dutifully close it every time, or my wife does.....
