I have Hulu, but I really just use it for easier access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Rarely use the other Hulu channels. Most of the ones I would be interested in are an extra subscription.

I recently went to my local Best Buy to get advice on 'cutting the chord' but got waylaid by a young woman who seduced me into switching my cable/wifi service to a two year contract for not much saving from my previous plan.

Idiot!!!!

Thinking with the wrong h+++ will get you every time.....

Is Hulu worthwhile? I can pay $6.00/mo for what Hulu offers, with commercials. I can $55/mo to get TV channels and recording capability. I'm paying Spectrum $168/mo for TV, phone, and Internet. If I dropped TV, I might not save anything by getting Hulu.

I dropped Spectrum triple play paying $280/month for only internet (400 mb speed) and their internet only app now pay $105/month. Hulu + Live TV is 55/month and provides 50 hours of cloud dvr. You tube TV also offers live programming and cloud dvr ability for about 50/month.

Jerry, we are a few miles from you during the summer, in Accord, when we had an antenna we got 3 channels poorly in the summer, haven't tried it in a few years so YMMV, I'm sticking with Spectrum up there, BTW Hulu works on the tv here, there and where ever I take my computer, Bob.

I dumped DirecTV and went with Roku and a Tablo recording device. What I get free with Roku and Amazon Prime is everything I need, and I have an antenna for when and if the internet goes down.

I’ll never look back.

We had basic cable TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Then we were informed the blueray player we use to stream would no long function with Netflix or Amazon. Our solution, drop cable and Netflix, keep Amazon Prime and bought Roku unit for $40 and there is so much free content and what commercials there are quicker and less invasive than cable TV and pay less!

I don’t know about Hulu, but I signed up for YouTube TV at our condo in FL. Got rid of the antenna’s which always gave us problems. BTW, I also bought my own modem/router combo. It’s $56 a month. I get all the major networks plus additional cable channels I watch like Motor Trend, Discover, MLB, BBC, etc.

You need a streaming device; I use Amazon Fire TV and Roku, but I prefer the Amazon because you can control sound and On/Off with the remote. If you have a smart TV, you just have to download the app to the Tv. All I needed from Comcast/Xfinity was Internet.

This system is so good that I’m going to do the same for my Optimum service on Long Island in NY. Optimum charges me $300 + dollars a month. I have 6 cable boxes and their modem. I argued with them and finally told Optimum several times that, “You don’t see the handwriting on the wall!”
I expect to save $150 in NY depending on how they try to squeeze xtra money out of me.

Have you checked your charges? I had Amazon Prime and thought video was free but in reality I was getting charged monthly for Prime and a separate charge for Prime Video. This may not be the case for you but it was my experience so I thought I might mention it.

We get the Amazon package for $13 a month, one charge, Prime Service and Prime Video....was probably an issue with the way they were billing you. For Internet TV in other rooms, we use my old Sony Playstation 3 via WiFi, it gets all of those video services through the free Sony video/gaming platform, some are free, some cost/subscription. The Samsung in the living room is a smartypants TV, so it gets it all (cable, Internet/streaming, gaming units, DVD and feeds from antenna and other devices.

I still play my PS3 once in a while, so it does double duty...gave my PS4 to my grandson for getting president of Honor Society in his school. You can pick up old game units pretty reasonable (cheap for PS3, even cheaper for an old Nintendo Wii, which works well too for streaming from internet...).

We do have Spectrum for TV/Internet/Phone....am considering dropping the TV part (I liked Brighthouse, but Spectrum is just blatant price gouging, and since Spectrum bought BH, we don't get the special offers newcomers get, just higher bills) and I do catch them throttleing the internet speed, they do it a lot. Local over the air with maximum antenna capability is probably 70-75 channels, but nearly half of that is tele-evangelist sham money grabber junk.

The overall problem ,as I see it, is that many times it's cheaper to get the bundle than the services you want individually, at least for my area, Bob.

There is no extra charge for video if you are a Prime member. But there are a number of videos on Prime for which you have to pay a rental fee, so just be sure that you are looking at the videos INCLUDED with Prime.

I recently cut the cable (kept internet) ... went from $200.00 a month to $70.00 a month ... got three antennas, one for each TV, get 20+ channels ... added a Fire Stick to two of the TVs (ordering one for the third) ... the Fire Stick is a great tool, can do many things with it - example: you can set up your Bluetooth headphones, record TV to the stick, etc. ... I also sprang for "Cobra Hosting" - 1000+ channels, two connections, $10.00 a month ...

Sounds like you are getting a pretty good deal. I am paying Spectrum $228 a month for TV, Internet, and Phone.

I've been with You-Tube TV since last summer (what is this UTube thing? It has never been called UTube ). I pay $49.99 + sales tax. That includes about 70 channels, including local, plus unlimited free DVR. What I like most are all the sports channels offered.

I kept Spectrum Internet and landline for $95/mo (includes the wifi fee).

This is my situation, also. YouTube TV, Spectrum High-speed internet and Spectrum landline. I adjusted my favorite channels and eliminated all those crappy sports channels - couldn't care less about them. I played sports in high school and on teams where I worked (baseball, volleyball, bowling, etc.). But as far as watching somebody else play and make millions - forget it.
One of the things I like about YouTube TV is that, besides watching it on my 50 smart TV, I can watch it on my laptop, tablet and smart phone. I'm currently watching "Let's Make a Deal" on the local channel 2 on my Samsung tablet as we speak. Can't do that with cable, satellite or OTA antenna.

I just dropped Xfinity (Comcast) and went to a little window unit Antennae and don't regret it one iota !
In fact the color improved greatly....
The signal coming from satellite or cable is compressed but the over-the-air signal from the TV stations isn't compressed resulting in a better picture.
