Is Hulu worthwhile? I can pay $6.00/mo for what Hulu offers, with commercials. I can $55/mo to get TV channels and recording capability. I'm paying Spectrum $168/mo for TV, phone, and Internet. If I dropped TV, I might not save anything by getting Hulu.

I would check and see if local channels are still available.

I dropped cable and got an antenna. Where I am I get 80+ channels free. I get other stuff free from internet. And Amazon is fantastic and free with prime.

I have Hulu, but I really just use it for easier access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Rarely use the other Hulu channels. Most of the ones I would be interested in are an extra subscription.

I recently went to my local Best Buy to get advice on 'cutting the chord' but got waylaid by a young woman who seduced me into switching my cable/wifi service to a two year contract for not much saving from my previous plan.

Idiot!!!!

I work with internet only. Cell phone coverage is almost non-existant here but the wifi covers the need. No landline. The few times we watch tv are covered by internet.

I got out of the habit of watching TV probably 40 years ago.

I think our total bill is $70/month for the internet.

Have you checked your charges? I had Amazon Prime and thought video was free but in reality I was getting charged monthly for Prime and a separate charge for Prime Video. This may not be the case for you but it was my experience so I thought I might mention it.

We dropped tv service from Spectrum at our places in Huntington and Palm Springs and went to internet only. Then we subscribed to the Spectrum app on our Roku device. The app is $15 and the net service is $65. I was paying $180 for net and tv before at both places so I save some serious coin each month. Since I already had Netflix and Amazon Prime, I have more tv than I ever care to watch.

Yep, I cancelled Spectrum cable and signed up for UTube TV which has all my favorite live channels at a substantial savings. My ROKU device does have spectrum available, but it is $36/month here in N.C. when all was said and done (I kept Spectrum internet and VOIP phone), I saved about $90/month and the service is just as good. The only thing I miss is that spectrum cable displayed the number and name of incoming calls on the TV screen. We have a Prime membership and between that and NetFlix, there is seldom a movie or series we can’t access. I also have an antenna in the attic for local channels for those times when internet is down.

The last antenna I had was twenty feet long. It was on top of a twenty foot tower on the roof with a rotator and amplifier. We got about three channels with that.

So you had all three services with Spectrum, just like I do. I'm paying about $168 a month. How does that compare with what you were paying? With the "Triple" package, there is a discount for each one, so deleting one raises the cost of the other two. I'll have to look into UTube TV.

I had two premium channels (HBO and Cinemax), and mine was $218 per month (!). I had already purchased my own modem to save the charge and when it got to that point due to constant increases, I said enough. I put ROKU devices on all my TVs (about $40 each) and signed up for UTube TV (we already had Prime because my wife seems to order something every week) and reduced Spectrum to 200 Mb down/10 Mb up internet and VOIP which is around ~$79/month. UTube TV is $50, so saved about $90/month. When I cancelled cable, Spectrum then informed me that I could continue it via internet for $36/month. Interesting that they never offered that before. At this point, I don’t trust Spectrum not to find new charges and increases going forward, so I declined.

I am not happy with their Internet service either, although I have been a customer since Internet became available. Whenever we have a power outage, the internet is down for hours or more (not a very robust infrastructure) and the throttled 10 Mb upload makes cloud usage problematical (good thing I “seeded” the cloud when the upload speed was symmetrical at 200 Mb). Google is busy burying gbit symmetrical fiber (at the same price) all over Raleigh, and when it gets to me, I’m done with Spectrum.

Our first cable TV was through a private local company. Then it changed hands many times, finally becoming Spectrum. As you've discovered, it's not easy getting a straight answer out of them. Verizon was running fiber optic cable in this general area, but they decided to stop quite a few miles south of here.

I have the basic Hulu account. Love it. There are many more things to watch besides the big TV channels. But it is nice to be able to go back and watch them if you missed an episode. They also produce their own programs like Amazon and Netflix. Plus, carry many cable programs and movies. Yes, there are commercials but, many times it breaks for one and comes back to the show. It's random and maybe 2 or 3 in an hour show. Less than normal TV. I just use one to grab another beer. Lol.

I dropped my Comcast cable package. Just kept the high speed internet for 55.00/month. Got a smart TV with a digital antenna in the window. 46 channels. Hulu and Netflix. Even with their crazy made up taxes, less than 100.00/month. And...more things to watch than a person has time for. Lol.

I've been with You-Tube TV since last summer (what is this UTube thing? It has never been called UTube ). I pay $49.99 + sales tax. That includes about 70 channels, including local, plus unlimited free DVR. What I like most are all the sports channels offered.

I kept Spectrum Internet and landline for $95/mo (includes the wifi fee). Was interesting to learn there are no taxes or other fees for those two like there are with cable tv. My current costs are about $65 less per month than when I had the full Spectrum package, mainly because of Spectrum's pricing for the sports channels (such as MLB and BTN; they also include Pac 12 which isn't offered with You-Tube) - similar to TriX's premium channels - and all those pesky taxes/fees.

I can also get local PBS, NBC, CBS, Fox and ABC via a $25 indoor antenna that sticks to my wall

For those who want to binge on MLB, there is an online package with mlb.tv

It costs me $80 for six months (military discount) and includes ability to see every regular-season MLB game, mostly live (a couple of exceptions, including home team games - but those can be watched the next day...not that anyone would want to watch the Mariners ). You also have ability to choose which announcing crew to watch/listen to with most games, and all are available as recordings for at least a couple of days after aired live.
