Understood. But the OP indicates that his original camera
was a D700, which is a full-size SLR. My guess is that it
had been in service for quite a long time. For at least some
of us, moving from a full size body to a small body, whether
a D610 or our wife's D40x, can be quite problematic. Full
awareness of the difference might just be of importance here.
The D610 is a "full size" SLR ... not "oversize".
To find it physically awkward to switch between
full size and oversize SLRs to is to realize that
one has a combined mental and physiological
impairment. There is no reason to assume that
the OP is in that way impaired.
@ OP:
If the price is right and the dealer is reputable,
just buy the 610. It's a rather ordinary camera,
meaning it is uncluttered, perfectly capable yet
never gets in the way. That has been my own
personal experience.
Perhaps no one is "impaired". Perhaps it's ME !
I'm just not "at one" with my camera. If I were
really "at one" with it and somehow it magically
became 3 oz. lighter and a 1/2 in. less tall that
ought to prove an insurmountably drastic ripple
in my space-time continuum. Yet, it does NOT.
But reality-wise, given that we have plenty of
SLR users who are also happily using high end
compact cameras, it's obvious that it's not me.
It's all those impaired "online experts" who are
"at one" with their oversize SLRs who are the
Weird Ones. Ignore their Dire Warnings, and
enjoy your new D610 :-)
