On Nikon website and also on B&H they have for sale a Nikon D610 with a 50 1.8 lens, a MB-14 battery pack and also a wireless adapter. Is this a decent FF camera all for $895 I'm looking to change from a mirrorless camera. Not happy with my Fuji xt1 electronic viewfinder.I can do a trade in with B&H for $375. My original FF D700 went swimmimg with the fish and replaced it with a Fuji.

Thanks in advance

Nikon may never have a deal like this again. The D610 is a solid performer that will give you years and years of dependable service.

Who would pay new money in March 2020 for a camera announced in October 2013? That would be an extremely poor buying decision.

I have that camera. Also the same lens along with a Nikon 28-300MM lens. I like you and many more here are not "Pros". I have yet to think I needed something else.

I have that camera. Put some great glass on it and never look back. I’m an enthusiast and I believe you will really grow into the D610, while making some amazing pictures. Go for it!!

Two years ago I purchased a used D610 body on eBay for just a little less than the price you are quoting, then added a 28-300 lens from another eBayer and a refurbished 1.8 50mm from Adorama . I have been nothing but pleased with the performance of the D610 it is an excellent non-pro DSLR. I was seriously interested because of its slightly smaller/lighter size and since it was a replacement for my D7100 the controls and menus were basically identical. I know it was introduced some time ago; but, I am not an individual who needs the latest and greatest loaded with bell and whistles that I seldom use. Great solid camera that I love and is providing excellent service for me.
I know there are those on here who do not care for Ken Rockwell; however, I have found him to be an excellent source of information on camera gear that I am considering; https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d610.htm

I traded in a D610 body after using it for 4 years. Outstanding, relatively light, responsive. I have a D780 now and enjoy the more capable focusing and video options. Nonetheless, it is bigger and heavier than the D610. I received $525 for the trade in of just the body so your price of the kit sounds good.

I just upgraded from a D90 to the D610 a few weeks ago. Very pleased.
Suggest you also look at Adorama - they have multiple packages with additional items for the same price.

Then I am glad you never had a film camera before the Canon T90 - some of them had virtually no grip at all.
..

Pentax "Super Program" I used 1983-1995 along with Canon "AE-1 Program" my Mother used at about the same time.

I really like my D610, and the 50 f1.8 lens is very good for indoor without flash shooting.

Is your D700 memory accurate?

Excluding the single digit models with integrated vertical grips, all of Nikon's (and Canon's) FF models have virtually the same size and shape and layout across the several different models.

D610 - 5.6 x 4.4 x 3.2 inches
D700 - 5.8 x 4.8 x 3.0 inches
D810 - 4.9 x 5.8 × 3.3 inches

I spent quite a bit more money when I bought my D610. I have had it for over four years and love the camera. I have never had any issues with it, cleaned the sensor once after I was shooting and changing lens's in a very dusty area.

Understood. But the OP indicates that his original camera
was a D700, which is a full-size SLR. My guess is that it
had been in service for quite a long time. For at least some
of us, moving from a full size body to a small body, whether
a D610 or our wife's D40x, can be quite problematic. Full
awareness of the difference might just be of importance here.

The D610 is a "full size" SLR ... not "oversize".

To find it physically awkward to switch between
full size and oversize SLRs to is to realize that
one has a combined mental and physiological
impairment. There is no reason to assume that
the OP is in that way impaired.

@ OP:

If the price is right and the dealer is reputable,
just buy the 610. It's a rather ordinary camera,
meaning it is uncluttered, perfectly capable yet
never gets in the way. That has been my own
personal experience.

Perhaps no one is "impaired". Perhaps it's ME !
I'm just not "at one" with my camera. If I were
really "at one" with it and somehow it magically
became 3 oz. lighter and a 1/2 in. less tall that
ought to prove an insurmountably drastic ripple
in my space-time continuum. Yet, it does NOT.

But reality-wise, given that we have plenty of
SLR users who are also happily using high end
compact cameras, it's obvious that it's not me.
It's all those impaired "online experts" who are
"at one" with their oversize SLRs who are the
Weird Ones. Ignore their Dire Warnings, and
enjoy your new D610 :-)

I purchased a D 610 for an up coming trip to New England last fall. I also have a D70 AND A D40 for many years . I also gave up on my Lumix Mirrorless for a full frame camera. I was very happy with the results I got shooting over 500 pics over 8 days in the Northeast. The detail captured by this camera is far greater than my other cameras. My only word of caution is the weight of the camera. A bit heavy compared to the others but then I used to lug around a Nikon F2 back in the day.
Also I shot most of my photos on aperture priority.
If it had an articulated viewfinder it would be perfect.

You will always grieve the loss of the D700. The D600 will take great pictures, but is not as solid a camera as the D700. Aside from the mega pics on my D810, was high on my list to replace my aging D300. Can't help you with the comparative value of your Fuji on the trade,.

I miss my D700. Sold it in a fit of depression. Bought a Sony A77 which I liked a lot, but my son 'borrowed' it! Using a Fuji ex2 which is just alright. Great results but the experience is just not the same as with the larger cameras bodies.
