I was out for some exercise on a beautiful Michigan winter late afternoon, the feel of the impending Spring was in the air. I stopped now and then for a shot, when I saw the reflection of the trees in the puddles on the water. Capturing the sun bursting through the trees and the reflections, made for a nice composition. Converting it to B&W, seemed to really bring it to life. What do you think?

You captured a beautiful reflection that would be easy to ride by, Sue. Good eye and you're right about B&W.

I tend to like more stark images - tree branches, certain old barns, anything aged and falling apart - in B&W. I feel it often has more impact and leaves a sense of melancholy, perhaps, and a quiet contemplative sort of mood. I agree a bit more contrast and perhaps some tonal adjustment will take a really well-composed shot and make it great!

You have a beautiful granddaughter and have taken some lovely shots. I would highly suggest you create a posting and ask for thoughts, instead of adding it to this one. You will have more thoughtful and focused answers.
