Oh Bob, I am so sorry. It is so very hard to be the one who decides to end the life of beloved pet, even though you know it is the right thing to do. I’m sure Duncan knows you loved him and helped him. My personal belief is that you will see him again. My thoughts are with you in this sad time.

Chris

So sorry. Duncan will be with you forever. At first, you will not be able to bear it, but eventually your memory of him will begin to warm you.

I know how you feel. I recently had to put my pet of 17 years to sleep. It's a very empty feeling to come home and not be greeted at the door. I'm pleased that you feel comfort with the place he is in now. I hope you have good photos of him to remind you of what a gift he was.

For me, this photograph perfectly symbolizes the moment that my dog, Duncan met his death just a day ago. I held him in my arms for the last two hours of his life and he was still there when the veterinarian administered the final solution that alleviated his pain and suffering. I was reminded of the words, "Father, into Your Hands I commend my spirit" and the image revealed just how quickly thereafter he was in the Hands of God.

Lovely expression.

It is truly one of the saddest things. Every dog we get will break our heart eventually. I am sorry.

I always thought my son was a handsome boy. Sweet, but rough-and-tumble at the same time.

Beautiful. The B&W conveys the message well. We lost our dog a few weeks ago, too. You have my condolences. Thanks for sharing.
