We are blessed with our dogs. The sad part is we outlive them. May the peace of the Lord be with you.

My condolences, Bob. I've been in that position too many times.

For me, this photograph perfectly symbolizes the moment that my dog, Duncan met his death just a day ago. I held him in my arms for the last two hours of his life and he was still there when the veterinarian administered the final solution that alleviated his pain and suffering. I was reminded of the words, "Father, into Your Hands I commend my spirit" and the image revealed just how quickly thereafter he was in the Hands of God.

I am so sorry, this really hit home for me as we just lost our Abby (black mixed lab) 2 weeks ago. We also held her, my husband and I on either side of her until she took her last breath. Sooooo sad.

Bob I am so sorry for your loss of Duncan. To me all of our Dogs were family. We lost our Greyhound (Lady) to a Spider bite 2 years ago. I slept with her on the floor for three nights giving her water and medicine. It was a great loss.
Please remember, Dog spelled backsword is GOD.

Bob, I can feel your pain. As a child there were two dogs in our home. One of them died due to a car accident and the other regrettably was given away by our father. We children felt both losses.
As an adult we had a cat that we rescued when she came to our backyard, I guess for help hungry and thirsty.

Very soon she became another member of our family. After fifteen years with us she developed renal failure and began to deteriorate very fast. We kept her comfortable for a few weeks and her last night with us I spent it sleeping at her side till in the morning it was obvious she was suffering enough that a solution was required. She was gone peacefully.

I spent several weeks in profound sadness. Five years after her death my wife rescued a kitten, now grown up that has come to ease the pain we suffered.
I am very sorry for your loss.
