Just lost my Nikon D 610 in a recent move. I had the camera for many years and it performed well for me. I want to replace the camera, but do not have experience with other camera models. I'm hoping to buy an older model camera. I also lost all my lenses along with the camera, so I need everything except the tripod. Looking for recommendations?

I'd recommend a new or used Nikon D750. It should be close in controls/operation/features of your D610. The D750 is somewhat of an upgrade . . .

check out KEH, Roberts Camera, B&H, or Adorama for excellent previously owned experienced equipment.

Starting out fresh you might want to explore the mirrorless options available now.
Not that they are better but the design efforts and developments will be for those cameras.
DSLRs will survive one more round but it appears that new developments will not be in that direction.
Any current brand will provide great results.
I know these are not "Older Models" but worth exploring.
Z7 and Z6 prices have crashed relatively since they were introduced and refurbished should be available now for even less.
They still make the D610 though if you liked it and are familiar with it and by current standards is an "Older Model" camera. B&H has a new one with a 50mm lens etc. for about $900.00. A Z6 body is about $1,800.

The Nikon D750 is older, but still very good. I still use one. I recommend it to others. Amazon has several ebooks on the D750. You can get, and read, some of those, and learn all about the fine camera. Then shop for a used / refurbished D750 from a reliable source. Nikon, Adorama, B&H, and MPB, are worth considering.

You seem to have been satisfied with the D610, so I’d say buy another one, new, used, or refurbished. As to lenses, just try to find the ones you used and liked before. Happy shooting!

For lenses, consider a Nikon 50mm. If money is no problem, consider an f/1.4, or f/1.2. If you are on more of a budget, go with the f/1.8. Also consider the Nikon 105mm VR Micro...both a great portrait lens, and a great one to one macro shooter....so two great tools in one for one price. If you can find an old Nikon 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G, grab it. It is A sharp general photo tool at a very affordable price. For sports, and wildlife, consider a Sigma 100-400mm zoom lens. It is affordable, sharp, light weight, and has good reach. On a DX camera, it has a 150-600mm field of view. Adding a 2x teleconverter gives it a 300-1200mm field of view.

Check with Keh, B&H, and Adorama for a used D610 and lenses like the ones you no longer have. They will be cheaper than buying into a newer camera. But this does give you the chance to look at other systems, including the new Fuji along with the Panasonic and Olympus 4/3rds systems. You will usually save the most in size, weight, and cost by going 4/3rds. But 4/3rds is not necessarily for everyone depending on some of their needs. Check out what is available at the local camera store (if you have one) and see if something new meets your needs better the your older standby.

GREAT NEWS, they have the Nikon D610 at a GREAT PRICE. Look at it, but buy it quick, they are going fast at this price, $1100.00 off, and a 50 mm 1.8 lens, vertical grip, and wireless module included. WOW.

Wow! Tough to lose camera and lenses in a move! So much has changed since the D610, so might be an opportunity to consider all the "future" has to offer. (The Z line?) That said, my D750 is an awesome camera. and with a 28-80 D series lens, it is light-weight and real handy for most opportunities. I just added a 70-300 f5.6 Nikon lens to round out the "reach". I have a vintage 50 f1.8 if I need the speed, but seldom use it.

When talking used cameras/lenses, don't leave out Roberts - UsedPhotoPro.com. They're right there in the league with MBP, B&H etc. They currently have a D610 body for $549.

Not necessarily a step up. Any camera in the hands of a good photographer who knows what they are doing will result in a superior image.
It is not if the photographer has a Mirrorless, or a DSLR, or a point in shoot, what matters is the skills to be learned from experience and applying them to creating the best images possiable.
Mirrorless is not an end all or necessarily a step up.
