I'd recommend a new or used Nikon D750. It should be close in controls/operation/features of your D610. The D750 is somewhat of an upgrade . . .

Definitely! And prices could be lower now that the D780 is on its way. Look for refurbished.

If you want to stay with a DSLR, and if you have lenses for it, consider a used D750, used D810, used D800e or a new or used D850. Or consider going mirrorless with a Nikon Z6 or Z7, with new Z mount lenses or your older lenses you can use with the adapter.

I have used all of the DSLR cameras mentioned above and liked them much better than my D610.

You seem to have been satisfied with the D610, so I’d say buy another one, new, used, or refurbished. As to lenses, just try to find the ones you used and liked before. Happy shooting!

I agree. If you enjoyed shooting with the D610 replace it with another. No learning curve and you can get one new or used. Same with the lenses. Enjoy!!

I wouldn't go too old, though. Sensor and camera tech has improved dramatically in recent years for things like dynamic range and noise. So stick with maybe one generation back but no more.

Have you filed an insurance claim? Some insurances cover an updated model if the older one has been discontinued, even on lenses.

Same concept, but different recommended camera. Check out the 800 or 810 by Nikon. I had both and thought they were fantastic. My 800 was so sharp I could barely believe it was possible. Full frame and today they are fairly reasonably priced. I think these really “bridge” the gap between the 600 series and the still expensive 850. Results are far closer to that provided by the 850 than the 600/610. Good luck, whichever way you decide.

Just lost my Nikon D 610 in a recent move. I had the camera for many years and it performed well for me. I want to replace the camera, but do not have experience with other camera models. I'm hoping to buy an older model camera. I also lost all my lenses along with the camera, so I need everything except the tripod. Looking for recommendations?

Looks like your choices are wide open. I recommend you go to a store and try a view camera types. Pick the one you like.

I'm not sure how to reply to everyone, so hope this works. So many great suggestions. Here are my thoughts.... I like the suggestion on replacing the D610 with the D750. The D750 is around $1,000. Here's my question, I can buy the Nikon Z6 for $1,300. The $300 is not an issue for me, should I buy the new technology?

You should hold them both in your hands before deciding. I would probably go with new technology if it were me.

Have you used mirrorless? Do you like the mirrorless cameras?

My answer would be yes, especially if you have a chance to test it out either in the store or by renting it.

You might consider trying one first before buying then you will know if you like the mirrorless tech. Some love mirrorless format others prefer DSLRs. Also there are many threads here on UHH debating the topic and advantages disadvantages of each.
