Laptop vs. IPad
Unless they have changed, the limiting factor to an iPad is there are no USB ports. I can't live without USB or at least Bluetooth.
I have been using the iPads almost exclusively. Yes I have a laptop as well. However, I still get frustrated with the laptop because of windows 10. I so miss the Win 7pro. Now to my pads. I have and use three. My newest is the 11” Pro with 1tb storage, WiFi and cellular.
This one is mainly for photos. Installed I have the new PS for iPad, it still has a lot of kinks. PS Light room, PS Express, Photoshop fix, and Affinity. The iPad Pro is always with me when I go to assignments. With WiFi and Cellular I stay connected. Today I was at a clients river resort in Oregon, and when I finished the shots he wanted , I was able to send the captures to the iPad, do some minor corrections, get his approval and then send to the printer who I will visit tomorrow. Simple. With a laptop? IMOP from experience it no longer can compete. The iPad is light, faster to fire up, with the new iPad Pro the screen colors are amazing.
And when I need to do more PP, I then go the laptop that has a color corrected monitor. Does my iPads replace the laptop or the desk station? Sometimes.
The iPad Pro works for me.

I use my IPad all the time for email and browsing like this. It is small and ultra light weight, BUT it is very limited compared to a laptop in terms of memory, storage, performance/speed, screen size and availability of ports. If you are planning on doing photo editing, the laptop (with an external monitor) is a far better choice.
You need more than a Terra Byte of memory?

I have my Kindle books on my iPad, so it can be done.
Go to your iPad.
Go to the app store.
Search for Kindle.
Get the Kindle App.
Open the Kindle App.
Go to Amazon on your iPad, as if wanting to shop there.
Go to your Accounts And Lists.
Go to your Contents And Devices.
Select a book.
Select Action.
Deliver to Other.
Select your iPad.
Deliver.
Go to your iPad home screen.
Find your Kindle App.
Press the Kindle App button.
Select a book from your Library.
Read the book.
Repeat process for each book you want on your iPad.
Whatever happens to your current tablet, your ebooks should remain in your Library at Amazon...able to be loaded onto any new tablets.
