Need your opinions and experience.

My HP laptop is old and dying - do I need a new laptop or Ipad.
My computer professional Son is pushing me towards the IPad. Being able to use WiFi review images on the wing. I use the laptop on Church photo projects and vacation.

Usually my photo editing is done on a desktop at home.

I'd go laptop but that's just me. I've got a Kindle and I couldn't even tell you if it still works.

I use my IPad all the time for email and browsing like this. It is small and ultra light weight, BUT it is very limited compared to a laptop in terms of memory, storage, performance/speed, screen size and availability of ports. If you are planning on doing photo editing, the laptop (with an external monitor) is a far better choice.

I would go with the Ipad. I was debating the same thing and my children gave me an Ipad for Christmas. You can use the Ipad as a computer and so much more. You can even use the Ipad as a Kindle. Camera, stopwatch, text, portable, TV, clocks, maps, pandora, many apps. etc. They really are all in one. Travel, link to TV at home, use the hotel computers,

I have two Laptops , a Tablet , and recently a Smart Phone and I love them all for separate and differing reasons. So I assign different tasks for each of them and give each one , their equal time in practice & applications each week. This is my way of staying in touch with current technological advances as there are many and I am getting old & slow to pick-up the nuances that pop-up constantly.

It's a fascinating world we live in and I want to see it all.

I see the laptop as the logical choice. I've used the iPad, Kindle, and Google Chrome computer. Each has its own strengths, but the laptop seems to be way ahead of these alternatives.

I use an Ipad Air with 256 GB of storage space, you can get larger storage space. At the moment it has 6,000 pics on it with space for plenty more. I copy them to an external hard drive as and when. I transfer them from the camera to the ipad, process them on the ipad, very easy. I travel a lot and wouldn’t be without it. The only time I use the computer is when I want to print something.
It is also used for emails etc.
All my posts on UHH are processed and edited with apps on the Ipad.

I use both for different functions. iPad for book reading, searching the internet, storing photos when traveling and taking a quick photo when I don’t have my camera. Computer is used for taxes, investing and storing photos as well as pp.

I use I pad for everyday tasks i.e., email, news, facebook, games and some picture taking and limited photo editing for over seven years.

However, for photoshop manipulations and video editing I utilize my lap/desk top iMAC

I have both but, when photos are involved it's my laptop. The laptop is not much more weight than a pad and I have all the convinces of home, a full computer to do mail, picture processing etc.

It depends :)

I shoot raw, so my files are minimum of 36 MB. per file, not gonna fit too many on an iPad for editing. Also an iPad is kind of a small screen for editing work in my opinion.

I normally edit on a 27” iMac with dual screens, so trying to work on an iPad would be a hassle I think.

If you shoot only JPG, then you can fit many more files on an iPad of course, and if most of your editing is cropping and minor tweaks then an iPad might be fine.

Why not use Wi-Fi on the laptop to review images on the fly? Samey-same

Look at the small computers like the Microsoft Surface. I can run all my Adobe software and use it as a tablet if I so desire.
It's the best of both worlds, and you don't have to learn a new operating system.

The IPad Pro 12” screen is about all I use. It runs Lightroom great for most all my photo editing needs plus its great for about anything else you can think of. I love mine!
