I would like to get some help choosing a ultra wide angle lens that will take filters , I already have a Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 which gives very good images but won't except any filters because of the bulbus front element . Does anyone out there have any suggestions , thanx in advance.

I use a 10-24mm DX lens on my D800. It gives about a 109-degree AoV and takes 77mm filters. The DX lens on my FX camera uses about 17-18 MP of the sensor's 36.6 MP which is adequate for most general purposes.

When I do landscape I use my Nikon 16-35 f4 and 24-120 f4. Both take the same filter size. Between these two lenses I can cover everything I need for landscape. I sold my 14-24 because the Lee filter system I was looking at cost about the same as the lens after all the filters I wanted to buy for it.
I can get very reasonable graduated filters for my two Nikon lenses. But most of the time I can do what I want in Photoshop after the shot.
You can keep the 14-24 if you have mastered Photoshop and Lightroom. You can do basically the same thing there as with Lee Filters without the muss and fuss.

The Irix 15mm is one of the few UWA lenses I could find when researching this situation that takes screw on threaded filters directly. They are big - 95mm. I haven't used one but reviews are generally good.

Why not use the lens and filters you have? But shoot multiple images with about 1/3 image overlap, the camera body set to shoot vertical images if you want more height to the image. Make sure the tripod head is level before you shoot, then pan on the horizontal. Shoot as many images as you have patience to take, then combine them in PS? With that technique you can shoot wider than any lens ever made.

Nikon has wide primes that take filters if I'm not mistaken. 20, 24, & 28 mm. What filters do you own now?

https://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/f-mount/ Scroll down the page. I own the 14-24 & now having some experience I would of purchased a couple of primes (aperture is good for nite/astro). The 16-35 is alright if your not doing any astro photography & making long hikes.

I sold my 14-24 2.8 for the same reason. In it's place I got a 20mm f1.8 and 16-35 f4 vr. They both take 77mm filters which I have for my 70-200.

I also have both the Nikon 16-35 F4 and the Nikon 20 1.8. Every time I think I want to sell one, I never can decide which one. As others have said they take the same filter size. The 20mm is much smaller, lighter and the extra stops but each take great images. Ive never used the 14-24 so I cant compare.

Ken Rockwell recommends the 20mm wide angle. Look up his website to see some spectacular images taken with this lens. It takes 77mm filters.

I have a lens from the past that the filters mounted in the back. Much smaller filters. Don't know what is available ultra wide. I do know that there is a filter holder for your lens avaiiable at B&H. It's $ $190, and 150 mm filter filters are not cheap

My 17mm-35mm 2.8 takes 77mm filters and on the D810 does a beautiful job

Laowa is a lens maker who produces incredible lenses. I, owning a Sony 7rii, am looking to buy the 10-18mm, widest zoom lens for mirrorless. Not sure what the Nikon camera you are using is, mirrorless or not, but Laowa has many unusual lenses, with some wide angle zoom probably present. Suggest at least looking at their offerings. And the one Laowa lens I have is very nice -- well built and great optics!

Tokina 17-35 F4. Bought it used for less than a filter kit. My D800 loves it. I haven't tried it on the D850 yet. Good luck.
