Slot Train, Loading a Railroad Car and Locomotive Remote Control-Texas Crushed Stone
Interesting shots. I enjoyed your whole series.
Fascinating series, Pat. Thought I knew something about railroading, but never have heard of slot cars before. Thanks for information and series of delightful pictures.
Great job Pat....a "train set" on steroids.....( a big boy train)....

I must have been asleep when I looked at #11 picture the first time. Those look like gondolas, instead of slot cars. It kept bugging me.

The first few images were of the slot train.
In #11, those are regular cars.
WOW!! Never saw anything like that before! Sure would like to see them get unloaded. Bet it's equally unique. Also, wish I could see a locomotive inside the repair shop. Thank you!

Thank you for posts like this; our nations railroads are an underappreciated asset.

Called Texas Crushed Stone and asked if I could take some train related images.
The owner said yes and he took me around. He answered all questions I had.

So instead of model railroading trying to emulate the real thing but having to operate the trains remotely, the big guys are now run by remote control.
Cool pictures Pat.

Like others here, I've never heard of a "slot train". Learned something new - thanks for the series and descriptions. Great, informative series.

Fascinating, never come across anything like those slot cars for carrying bulk materials. Interesting operation. Thank youfor sharing Jay Pat. How are the slot cars unloaded?
