Nice series! I had never heard or seen slot cars. Very informative.
Neat shots.

These are new to me. Nice set and narrative.
Great images, Pat, of an unusual subject.

A slot train is many cars connected together that create the "slot".
See image #4.

How many cars make up the slot? I am familiar with the tri pack for containers, never seen anything longer.

Sorry, didn't count.
Looking at image #4, I see 5 cars.
I'm going to guess more than 5 cars and less than 10.

"Slot" as in "sluice". Creating a channel using specialized rolling stock. Makes it easier in moving large quantaties of rock, or the like, from one location to another for loading and unloading.

Thanks, never heard the phrase before.
Nice series of shots, Pat. Informative session. On occasion have had slot trains on the UP & BNSF here in "Land of Oz" but never access to the equipment like you got. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Thanks for the series
