I think that it depends on what else is in the photo besides the sun that makes it worthwhile or not. The setting, the exposure, the framing... etc.

Absolutely not. Each sunset is different with it's own unique paintings. God paints the sunsets, and each has it's own beauty.
But that's just my thought. I shoot one every chance I get! Start shooting!!

To say you've seen them all says it's the end of the world to me.

It's like any other photograph they're all different you can have several people take the same shot and you'll get several different photos. each for those different depending on foreground clouds silhouettes there's too many variables.

That's like saying if you seen one landscape you seen them all or if you seen one birdshot you seen them all. You can never see them all.

I agree. I rarely shoot the set as I much prefer the rise. I like the fact that at dawn the light is increasing rather than the opposite. I find that more manageable particularly as to exposure. Also the rise can provide brief areas of highlight on elements of the scene. That can be spectacular. I also believe there needs to be a subject other than color or boring water. Hence landforms, trees, buildings, etc. I thoroughly enjoy watching the amount of light and the colors evolve. But then, that’s just me. It’s all in the eye of the beholder.

He sounds pretty jaded and tired.

Every sunset is unique... just like faces. And they are dynamic as the colors change during each sunset as they develop (due to the scatter of light rays) going from yellow golds to oranges and reds at times.
And clouds are like giant projector screens (each unique) reflecting light back to us.
I, obviously, love them. Had to give a presentation once on the physics of sunsets.... and like most things, the more you know the more you usually appreciate.

Yes and No. Of course, the cloud formations differ, the colors differ, time of year makes a difference. For me, just an image of "red skies" gets boring, no matter the cloud formations. What makes sunsets for me is what I pair them with on the ground. Even if it is a silhouette, some interesting photo element against a beautiful sky creates the feeling I want to capture.

Who cares' what others think. If you enjoy seeing and photographing sun sets or sun rises, it is all that is needed. Let them shine on forever!

If you’ve seen more than 2 sunsets yourself, you ought to know the answer.

Whether sunrise or sunset, don't forget to look the opposite direction. View to the northwest with sunrise behind me:
