We hadn't been to M.V. in over 15 years and decided to make a winter trip when crowds are fewer. We visited the Park on two different days trying to catch better light and were unsuccessful, in large part. Weather stayed iffy both days, mostly overcast with short periods of sunlight. Only the Chapin Ridge Loop is open in winter which includes the Mesa Verde Visitors Center and Museum.
Still, as M.V. has over 600 ruin sites, there is a lot to see and take in.
I will make several posts over the next week of the sites we did visit/photograph. Today's post our photos of Spruce Tree House and some scattered ruins surrounding the main alcove. These photos were taken from a vantage point across the canyon housing the ruins and are best seen in "Download".
