I get Photoshop and Light room for $10.00 a month. It is one of the best deals out there.

No doubt, most would agree, and be happy.

The only possibility would be to buy a used copy from a private individual. The seller would have to deactivate his copy before it could be activated under a different name. Having said that, I would check with Adobe first to see if that's even possible. I doubt they would allow that because it would eat into their subscription plan.

There are lots of alternatives to LR available, and many are free.

The standalone software has not been for sale since the end of calendar 2017.

Not trying to be argumentative, but I ordered Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 standalone version from Amazon LLC on 10 May 2018, a received it two days after that. Granted that now it does show as unavailable on Amazon. I do not see it presently available from any other source. Maybe, for once, I was fortunate to snag a copy before it became extinct.

Thanks

He may pick up a DVD on ebay -I have the standalone version 6 and I have seen V5 and V6 on ebay from time to time.

I did an upgrade from LR5 to LR6 in March 2018, purchasing and downloading directly from the Adobe site. Neither of our anecdotes are relevant now in January 2020. Adobe officially announced end-of-maintenance and support for the standalone (perpetual) Lightroom ver 6 effective Dec 31, 2017.

(Sigh.) Just because we CAN do something does not mean it's wise to do it.

Even if you find an original, shrink-wrapped copy with official seals and serial number, it makes little sense to buy it. Adobe won't help you if it doesn't work.

Its installer isn't compatible with the latest Mac OS.

LR 6.14 has some issues with various versions of Win 10, as well.

It isn't really safe to run anything on Win 7, in case that's the OP's plan. In 2020, using outdated, obsolete, unsupported software is risky, unless you disconnect your computer from all Internet service.

It is NOT upgradeable to any version of ACR released after 12/31/2017. So new cameras are incompatible and require a workaround trip through .dng or .tif files to get them into LR 6.14.

It has been well debated and documented here and elsewhere that LR 6.14 is a dead end. The decision should not be to find a copy of it, but to subscribe to a Photography Plan, or buy Photoshop Elements, or get Serif Affinity Photo, or something else.

I have LR5 and LR6 standalone and now use the LR/PS subscription.
Interestingly I tried to use LR6 standalone on an old laptop to do some tethering on a clean set up and although I could install the LR6 it would not run , instead Lightroom Classic opened up.
LR 5 would open and run though.

Love the Lightroom subscription. Use Classic on my Mac and Windows desktop, and CC on my iPhone/iPad. They can be set up to sync from Photos on the phone, to/from the cloud and to the Classic versions. Being able to import images into the phone on the fly, and do rudimentary edits there is great. Knowing that I can make serious updates on the computers is great too. It's definitely worth it.

The last version I saw was a hacked version being sold under the table about 5-6 years ago. And it would definitely not support any recent camera RAW files.
