I see two groups the group who try (and in some cases, poorly, but try) and stone thrower.

I will admit I may not read all the pages but, try to respond to the original question.

Exactly. Never had a single problem with Amazon CS, and I have had opportunity to talk to both online and phone reps. Love or hate Amazon, they didn’t get huge by having crappy customer service.

Amazon CS is amazing, that said, when you buy from a 3rd party on Amazon you do need to be aware. I have heard horror stories about the counterfeit goods being sold through Amazon. Granted, if you think something is counterfeit, they will promptly refund it, but they are still selling it.

Good lord I just spent a lot of time over at CA and I’m shocked by all the bad reviews, one after another. Seen several of the names mentioned that I been dealing with. Had I done more research I’d not be dealing with this right now. Not sure how they got such a great name on here.

I had to learn the hard way also.

He’s not alone. Apparently a large proportion of the membership reads either the first couple of posts or the last few in a thread, while skipping the intervening 8 pages before replying, not noticing that the question has been answered a dozen times already 😹.

Over at Glocktalk.com we have a Hugh thread running called “I didn’t read the thread, but wanted to post a reply anyway” it’s at 6,882 pages long as of today 😂 this one reminds me of it 😂

Not going to name a company (one of the good guys supposedly) but here’s what happened, the below is the email I just sent them. The demo is $100 cheaper than new just to clarify that part. Would you be ok keeping it since they did automatically lower the price?

Received my order and I have to say I was surprised to of ask for a brand new lens and I specifically said I wanted new due to warranty and resale value and at that time I was charged for new on my CC. The next day I noticed that order was canceled and a new order was generated which I didn’t really understand then I noticed a lower amount was charged to my CC (was charged full price originally) and today I received a used lens in bubble wrap, no box or warranty card which means no warranty and resale value drops a lot.

Not happy about that but I will just keep it and hope it has no issues as I’m sure Canon won’t honor any warranty. This is sad to of had an order just canceled and switched with no communication with me. Lesson learned on my end as I really thought I was dealing with a company that has a great reputation. Oh well! I did attach a PDF of what my original order was before it was changed.

Please name the culprit. They live or die on their reputation. They either provide the ordered item at the original price, or tell them you will post the results on UH. Be careful to sick to facts and not express opinion. That is what gets people sued.
For the original price you can get a the lens in IS II. It is refurbished with a full Canon warranty. I buy many lenses through Canon refurbished. Here is the link. If you want it, move quickly because their selection changes often and is limited.

I posted the name some pages back in a complete story, Adorama and still no word on what there going to do but after reading pages of Consumer Affairs complaints I don’t expect anything at this point. The lens in question is an RF and not the EF but thanks for the link anyways.

I'll bet a phone call during normal business hours will get things straightened out, something 10 pages of grumbling on UHH doesn't have a chance of doing.

They are supposed to call me Monday. The regular CS Rep is very good at saying sorry but I can’t help.

It may be of interest to them if they choose not to do the right thing. I for one, am going to assume that as a reputable company, they will, but if they don’t and it is proven, I will cross them off my list of future venders.

Read Consumer Affairs and look at the complaints, they keep a Rep on there to say sorry. I saw words like scam artist, thrives, liars, bait & switch. Seen some of the same names I’m dealing with

I read all but the last two pages, as my mind was getting fuzzy, but I need to share a thing that recently happened to me.

I saw an offer for a two lens kit with camera body from Panasonic, and as I always do, went to B&H. But, for no good reason I also checked Adorama. Each offer came with free junk, memory card, filter other stuff, but Adorama had one with a lightweight tripod. Not something I would ordinarily buy, but it was going to be a gift to my stepdaughter, who would use it with her phone. I order, charge declined, although the card had substantial amount available. I go into the bank and speak with the nice lady. She calls their fraud detection department. Those people are like a cage of hungry pitbulls, very aggressive in protecting their customers. I like that. They explained that they had experienced a lot of fraudulent transactions from NYC, so were blocking all. So I reorder, this time from B&H, sorry stepdaughter. Charge goes through like a greased pig.

Any connection? I can't say.

I’m still trying to figure out the CC thing to...Wife said you ow $860 something on your CC now, now it’s gone like it never happened and a new, lower charge of $764 is now on my card which would be the demo lens price. I have been on my Chase app and the full web page and it’s like the first charge was never there.
Just FYI but it is because technically the first charge was never there - they were just reserving that much of your credit line to verify your card was good and you had that much limit left, then was changed to actual amount when product shipped & billed. Thus no first charge or credit of it. Similar to if check into a hotel for 2-3 days. They reserve the whole stay but don't actually bill till final day has started.

Well thank you for that info, I really couldn’t figure out how they made it disappear. Makes since. What still does not make since is why my order was canceled and a new one placed. They can’t deny that as it still shows on my account page.

Send it back (at their expense) and request a full refund. Then reorder a new lens from a different supplier. Contact your credit card company and alert them.

ABSOLUTELY!
