Definitely return it. It may be a rental product that they are wanting to get out of their inventory.

"11) looked at my CC and the original charge is gone, no record of it
12) looked at my CC and the new charge of $767.64 is now in its place. "

This is normal if Adorama entered a correction/update change to the charge. Only the CC Co. internal computer transaction log would have all the changes. A CC CS rep can pull all the details out - including any updates or corrections on the charge.

Not if there are problems with it. I could cost more in the long run. I don't like companies that take advantage. I would return for a full refund and cancel charge with CC company. Then buy it elsewhere.

I almost always buy from Adorama. I've never had a problem. I worked in a stockroom years ago. They ate always hectic. Maybe a new employee.

Not going to name a company (one of the good guys supposedly) but here’s what happened, the below is the email I just sent them. The demo is $100 cheaper than new just to clarify that part. Would you be ok keeping it since they did automatically lower the price?

Received my order and I have to say I was surprised to of ask for a brand new lens and I specifically said I wanted new due to warranty and resale value and at that time I was charged for new on my CC. The next day I noticed that order was canceled and a new order was generated which I didn’t really understand then I noticed a lower amount was charged to my CC (was charged full price originally) and today I received a used lens in bubble wrap, no box or warranty card which means no warranty and resale value drops a lot.

Not happy about that but I will just keep it and hope it has no issues as I’m sure Canon won’t honor any warranty. This is sad to of had an order just canceled and switched with no communication with me. Lesson learned on my end as I really thought I was dealing with a company that has a great reputation. Oh well! I did attach a PDF of what my original order was before it was changed.

I never heard of any of the reputable companies pulling a scam like this. This whole scenario sounds strange to me. If you can't name the company then there is no relevance to your claim.

Agree $100 is not much and that’s why I declined the demo and went new for $899. That sale disappeared everywhere and now it’s $1099 which makes it a $400 difference if they offer to refund me and start all over. $400 more makes me think real hard if that’s what they offer today.

When you ordered the lens it was $899.00. Whatever the prices is today does not matter. The price when you ordered the lens does. Don't give in to deceitful advertising. With the internet you have all the means you need to pursue. If they refuse to uphold their side of the original agreement write all over their facebook page and their web page. Bad reviews affect their bottom line and they know that. By the way I've also had great luck with "Consumer Affairs". As I've said here before companies employ people to search the internet for bad reviews on themselves. Ten years ago it would have been rough but now it takes about half an hour of your time. Good luck.

$100.00 off a $1100.00 lens is really not worth it. Plus there was no USA warranty ward, no box and just wrapped in a bubble wrap.. Personally, I would send it back at their expense and ask for a refund. If they refuse, contact your CC and cancel the payment. Most CC will oblige.

Think of it like this. Your upside is capped at $100 but your downside is considerably more.
This is terrible behavior from the seller.
If you run into a problem, however small, you will regret the decision. Regardless of lens spec, you know nothing of its provenance.

Very true if it stays at $100, not sure why I did not hear back today besides some guy in a trades and used gear dept. saying to call him Monday.

The lens is a demo and sold for $799, when I placed the order for a new lens it was $899 plus tax and that’s what I originally paid -$100 for a store credit that I had remaining. Now to complicate matters the lens is back up to $1099 and I’m sure if I return the demo for credit of the $764 then I will be reordering at the now current price of $1099 plus tax. I chose new when ordering because there was only $100 difference but now there would be $400 difference.

I love Canon sales but gee they move prices around (up) at the worst time.

By the way, the lens does look new. Would a call to Canon with the serial number help? Could they tell me if it has a warranty?

After talking to 3 people at Canon they couldn’t verify if I have a warranty and say they can’t run serial numbers. They did say if my paperwork does not say demo/open box or anything else that I might have coverage. My receipt does not say used/demo so it’s a tossup I guess.

I've been an Adorama customer for years. Spent thousands with them. I hopes that this turns out well for you.

The only correct, acceptable and defensible answer is that Adorama sends you a new lens at the original price, apologizes for the error and pays return shipping on the “demo” lens. Anything less would be unacceptable to me.
