Uses for a Canon 85mm

I have a Canon 5DS R and I am looking at the Canon 85mm F 1.8 USM for my telephoto Prime Lens. I have a Canon 24-105 1:3.5-5.6 IS STM and a Canon 100-400 1:4.5-5.6 L IS II USM a Canon 70-200 1:2.8 L IS II usm plus a Tamron first Generation 150-600 mm. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't have a lot to spend. I do own a Canon 80D and a Canon &D Mark II also. Thanks!!!

What sort of images do you take?
(I do own a Canon 85mm f1.8 however it doesn't see a lot of use nowdays).

Backyard birds my grandkidsand vacation landscapes I just don't have a prime lens for my camera. Lot of people have the 50 mm all I have is the 24-105 older lens Thanks for your interest

I also own the Canon 85mm 1.8 & use it often as a "short light fast telephoto" in situations where I want to go light & I don't have the need nor desire to lug around the 3.5 Lb. 100-400 --- An excellent sharp bit of glass -- On a recent trip to England found the lens to be extremely useful for indoor shots inside Cathedral's

It's a good, small and light, people lens (especialy portraits), on a full frame body.

Just a follow-up:
When traveling & in an urban location I always go & carry "light" -- That is the 24mmm 1.4; 35mm 1.4 & the 85mm 1.8 --- This old man's shoulder & back always thanks me. Plus I get to see & enjoy a hell of a lot more

I was thinking maybe I should just upgrade my 24-105.....thoughts on that please

Really not the right guy to answer -- Have always been a "Prime Lens Guy" Nothing at all against zooms -- realize the modern ones are about equal in quality to primes & @ 2.8 "almost" as fast -- Just don't get along with them -- Find it much easer to use fixed focal lengths that I have over the years have memorized vs one/two lens with hundredths of different focal lengths -- Use the 100/400 vs big primes just because it's a hell of a lot lighter not to mention cheaper

In most European urban situations those are the focal lengths that work for me & have proven to be successful
