If it was placed/fell into the passenger footwell, it may have slid under the passenger seat. It's a long shot, but you never know - it's happened to me with shopping. Best of luck anyway.

You're lucky. You get to buy a new camera.

I'd be luckier if someone gave me the money.

I have Renter's Insurance. I don't know yet if they cover equipment in the car.

You don't know it was in your car or in your home! Since you don't know, don't assume. Just tell the insurance company that it was stolen - it was the only thing stolen, and that nothing else is missing from your apartment. You aren't even sure exactly when it happened because nothing else was missing or moved. There is no indication of forced entry to your knowledge. You didn't have a police report because you didn't know it was missing or when it went missing.

If it was in your car, your homeowners won't cover it. However, you can get a rider to your policy to cover all of your camera equipment that will cover everything, including damage.

Actually, that is not true-your homeowners policy generally will cover that. I had several thousand dollars of equipment taken from my van(locked) and it was my homeowners insurance that covered my loss.

I had a Canon T3, 24-150L lens and a case. Memory card was in the camera. Fortunately I downloaded the pictures.

I truly hope it is just in hiding and will pop out soon - I have been in the same spot a couple time - it was just like having a lost child.

I went to photograph some things today and when I went to get my camera, it was gone! I have a 3 room apartment and both my husband and I thoroughly searched inside and outside.
I can account for it until Sunday afternoon. Then it gets foggy. I can tell you that I am meticulous about the camera. I never put it down in an area where it even slightly may be unwise. It never is left in the car.
I have such a horrible feeling in my stomach. I feel like my arm was cut off.
Now that you've heard my tale of woe, I am asking if anyone has had to deal with insurance claims. There is a very good possibility that if left in my car inadvertently, it was stolen. We live in an area where we don't usually lock our doors when our car is in the back of the house.
I don't know where I'm going with this. Anything would be appreciated.

Keep looking. You always find what you're looking for in the last place you would ever think to look (of course, you don't look any more after you find it!). Sometimes it's sitting right in plain site and you walk right past it numerous times. Sometimes you were carrying a big bag and some other stuff in the house and put your lost object in the bag then forgot. Sometimes you are carrying a bulky empty cooler and put it inside for the trip from the car to the home. Sometimes you put it in a piece of luggage. Sometimes it slides under the car seat. I've even put a P&S camera in an upside down hat and forgot about it!

You say you're meticulous and your area is too safe for it to have a high probability of being "snatch and grabbed." I'd keep looking but in weirder places than you'd ever imagine. Someone just a few minutes ago found an unused old cell phone of ours sitting in a bush in front of our house because our toddler put it there.

Have you heard of pinning the devil? It is a witches spell that originated from Cornwall in the UK. You stick a pin in your favourite chair and say ,out loud three times "I pin the devil" and if the lost item is just misplaced you will then find it. Sounds like gobbledygook but it works . I believe there is a similar spell in the USA that involves a Saint , Michael Maybe. cant hurt to try. I tried it to find some cash that had gone missing and instead found some keys I had lost a while before , the cash never was found

I must say, I am leery of trying to stick it to the devil on my own....I don't think it wise to tackle demons head on, which is what this seems like...sort of goading a lion. And instead of looking to the "dead" for help, go right to the top and ask God to show you where it is, please. He knows where it is, and if you need to find it, he will show you. We have had some remarkable answers to such prayers...as well as some disappointing no's.

Back in '02 I had my entire kit lifted in a Paris train station while I was buying a ticket to Zurich (I won't say who was supposed to be guarding it, but she's still sick over it and we're still married!)

Reportedit to the station police, got a copy of the report and filed a claim on our homeowner's policy when we got home. All they required were current values or the equipment (used ADORAMA website). We were out the $500 ded, but the worst thing was the several rolls of undeveloped film that were in the backpack. Live and learn...
