I am devastated! My camera is missing!

I went to photograph some things today and when I went to get my camera, it was gone! I have a 3 room apartment and both my husband and I thoroughly searched inside and outside.
I can account for it until Sunday afternoon. Then it gets foggy. I can tell you that I am meticulous about the camera. I never put it down in an area where it even slightly may be unwise. It never is left in the car.
I have such a horrible feeling in my stomach. I feel like my arm was cut off.
Now that you've heard my tale of woe, I am asking if anyone has had to deal with insurance claims. There is a very good possibility that if left in my car inadvertently, it was stolen. We live in an area where we don't usually lock our doors when our car is in the back of the house.
I don't know where I'm going with this. Anything would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your camera. Do you still have the receipt for it? The only thing I can say is, check with your Homeowners Insurance....good luck!

your deductible may be more than the value of the camera, depending on both your policy and type of camera. if you are going to file a claim, you will need to make a police report. Se if you have anything that has your camera serial number on it.. My dad had a nikon f stolen he reported it, 10 years later detroit pd recovered the camera when someone tried to pawn it. You never know.

If it was in your car, your homeowners won't cover it. However, you can get a rider to your policy to cover all of your camera equipment that will cover everything, including damage.

Depends on the coverage , step One . Call the agent

It definitely depends on the carrier. Some policies cover your contents anywhere in the world.

Locate your contract and read thru it to determine what coverage you have. The policy terms should include your duties in the event of a claim and also the number you should call to report the claim. Pull together your receipts if you have them. If not makes list of each item and write down what the cost new is. In the meantime pray to st Anthony...

This is no help to you, but a warning to all. We live in a very nice area with a very low crime rate. Recently, many surrounding neighborhoods (including ours) have experienced a rash of thefts from parked cars. I just read this past week that police do not believe the thieves are from this area, but are being dropped off, then picked back up later. Wow!

If that is true, it is likely true in many parts of the country. Hard to imagine, but some people will do anything. Lock your car and park in the garage if you have one.

Sorry to hear about your loss, is anything else missing? As that would probably be the case if someone broke in to rob you, they wouldn't just take 1 item would they?
