I bought this tilt head to use with my 150-600mm. Works great and easily pivots for lens collar or body arca swiss plates.

$100 or less preferred.

I have several Manfroto 494 with a quick release plate PL200 that's mounted on all of my cameras, plus a 150-600 Sigma Sport and a Nikon 400f3.5 that have the plates mounted to the tripod collar. Available for around $80 from several outlets. Makes changing bodies and lenses simple.

I'm looking for advice for good ball head, or tilt head for a monopod that will stand up to a Nikon 200-500 lens with my D7200. Advice appreciated.

I am using the Kirk MPA2 tilt head with a Sirui monopod for Nikon 200-500 on a D500. Highly recommended.

If you own a gimbal head, you can use that as well ... works perfectly on a monopod.

The tilt function makes it much easier to set the azimuth without having to rearrange your posture or change the angle of the monopod with reference to the ground.

Never thought I would like doing so, but putting a ball-head on a monopod is a great idea! Used it last fall in RMNP and liked doing so very much. Gave me the stability I wanted without sacrificing any mobility. Saw several shooters (men & women) using Gimbal heads on monopods and they encountered no problems. Whatever works for you is worth repeating, don't you think?

Adjusting angle of camera while monopod base remains perpendicular to the ground for stability.

I agree. I use a gimbal on my monopod all the time with my 160-600 Tamron G2. I balances perfectly and takes all the "work" out of manipulating a big lens.

Steve Perry a wildlife photographer has been touting this product. I don't own it but thinking seriously of purchasing not a $100 but around $200 for Wemberly product that is pretty reasonable

I own one and it is a great little piece of equipment. If you decide to go this route you will have to replace your lens foot with an arca swiss foot if your lens didn't come with one. I found a used one on Adorama for my 70-200 for $50. New ones run from $80 - $120. Don't know why Nikon doesn't use the arca swiss design for the foot that they include.

Howdy,
I have the Wimberley that Steve Perry talks about and it is great. I also have a Vanguard Alta 300 ballhead, which also great. The Vanguard has load capacity of over 60 lbs, it is within your budget at about 93.00 and the Wimberley is 180.00.

Look at Steve Perry's review of the Wimberley MH-100. It is a true gimbal for a monopod.

Here is one that Steve Perry really likes.

Wimberley monopod gimbal head, and Steve's video on it and other types of monopod heads. I just ordered one for myself to use with my 500mm f5.6 PF lens.

Just curious, what is the point for a ball head on a monopod?

When your Monopod is attached to a horizontal fence rail or to a vertical post or pole The ball head allows you to rotate as if you are on a tripod. This is not a team sport so you should do as you feel most comfortable. As I have mentioned many times, the above mentioned setup is why you carry 2 velcro strips with buckle wrapped around the monopod leg so you can stabilize when needed.
