I'm looking for advice for good ball head, or tilt head for a monopod that will stand up to a Nikon 200-500 lens with my D7200. Advice appreciated.
wow- those are really nice ball heads … haven't used mine in some time but (if I remember correctly) i'm putting an old Bogen under my view camera

Keep it simple and get a tilt head. You can make horizontal movements by turning the monopod.
I use a Bogen #3232 on mine. You can't get much sturdier than that.
will
I agree. You don't really need a ballhead on a monopod when you're using it with a lens fitted with a tripod mounting collar, like that 200-500mm.
Get a "tilt only" monopod head. That provides the necessary tilt axis. You can handle the panning axis simply and easily by rotating the entire monopod.
That said, I happen to have a ballhead on a monopod. But only because it was a spare... left over from an old tripod I fitted with a different head. Works okay, but it can "flop" to one side if you aren't careful. It's a simple ballhead, with a single locking lever for all the movements. In the event of a zombie attack, I'm all set. The ballhead on monopod would make a great weapon!
If I were shopping for one, I'd need something Arca-Swiss quick release compatible, since I use that on all my gear.
Pay close attention to the load capacity. Some are only rated for 5 lb. I'd feel more comfortable with one that has at least a 15, 20 or 30 lb. rating.
There also are some "beasts" that have way more weight rating than necessary... and are very expensive... probably pretty large and heavy.
With a quick search at B&H I found:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?setNs=p_PRICE_2%7c0&Ns=p_PRICE_2%7c0&sortType=default&ci=398&fct=fct_accessory-type_3438%7Cheads&origSearch=monopod+head&srtclk=sort&ntt=arca&Among those, the Desmond DMH-2X1 looks like a pretty good deal. The Sirui L-10, Sunwayfoto DT-01D50 and Induro TH2 all look like good possibilities, too. Those four have the features and weight ratings I'd want, without breaking the bank or being too complicated, big and heavy. The Benro DJ-90 appears to be the smallest and lights, but doesn't have sufficient weight rating. The rest are all "overkill" as far as I'm concerned.... too big, too heavy, too complex and/or too expensive!

RRS has good monopod heads (they all are rated at 75lb.), but any decent ball head will do! Just check the specs and you'll know!

Sorry Les, I have no first hand experience at $100 or less.

Agreed, I use a tilt only head. Simpler.

I bought the 1st one in this photo a year ago and am very happy with it. I can use my 5dIV and a 100-400 lens and 1.4 TX with it with no problems. The tension knob works well in adjusting for smooth tilting movements that holds the weight of the camera easily.
The photo is from Amazon, but I got mine from B&H.

Oops, the monopod with the tilt-head went to my daughter,
the remaining monopod has a mini ball-head (light camera).
I think I'd rather have the little tilt-head from the other monopod,
but I don't need a large range of motion (so far) for the monopod anyway.

I may have to rethink my budget. Thanks.
