Of the four major camera manufacturers, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji, only one doesn't make their own sensors - Nikon. Only one is not part of a major Japanese conglomerate with "fingers in many pies" - Nikon.
Two - Canon and Nikon - have been painfully slow to introduce mirrorless cameras - which may be a good thing strategically if not so much tactically.
Which is odd as the camera industry started out mirrorless.
I have been reading such reports about Nikon for over 20 years. Only time will tell. As anyone in business knows, you evolve or die. Killing off (dead or dying) parts of any business and reinvesting in growing segments is what you have to do to survive.
Fantastic! The amount of truth in this one picture is almost beyond comprehension.

As Gene51 said it! This is a BIG part of why I take NO notice of TN's bable on anything Nikon along with most of what he says. Happy Holidays to ALL!
Facts matter. According to Nikon's Annual Report to the SEC, although they are losing revenue at levels that are generally consistent with the industry's overall performance, they are still able to operate at profitable levels. (See the attached five-year comparison.) It's all but certain that there will be shakeouts as a result of industry trends, but no one can predict specifically what that that will mean for individual companies, in the future. Also, on-line commentators talk about Nikon and others like their only business is photography. In fact, companies like Nikon and others have other, more profitable, business segments (e.g., medical products). Cameras and lenses (which are often referred to as "imaging" products) comprise small, and sometimes immaterial, portions of the companies' overall performance. For what it's worth, I say this as a photographer who is independent from Nikon. I shot with Nikon cameras for about 50 years, but have moved to MFT format, so I don't have a dog in this fight. I hope you find this helpful.

According to Tony Northrup's very recent You Tube, "Nikon is Dying", Nikon is going out of business unless they change things quickly. What do you think?
Much ado about nothing. Seen that video several weeks ago. Northrup is definitely controversial, however if you watched the video he was POSITIVE regarding Nikon. He does have a valid point about things such as Nikon getting into cloud services for example. It does seem to be what the new generation would want and to stay in business, if you do not provide what the new generation wants you will eventually run out of people to sell to. I trust that Nikon will continue to be the legendary camera manufacturer they have always been going forward with a trimmer DSLR line while adding entry level through professional in the mirror-less line. I believe most of the negative talk about Nikon are from those individuals that want everything in their hands before it’s invented. Good things take time, and for a very long time, Nikon has been good. Nikon will always be Nikon. Quality.

I wouldn't worry about Nikon that much. How is it Ricoh is actually doing OK with their tiny share of the market. Canon and Nikon spend a lot of their income on advertising, Pentax practically zero.

YouTube opinions and prognostications should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Remember that the video you’re watching was produced solely (for the most part) for personal gain and/or gratification. Altruism is seldom the motivator.
A grain of salt?. How about a salt lick?. Did you see Tony Northrup's You Tube video titled I believe,
The Nikon Z50 is a huge mistake!. He criticized using the Z mount on an APS-C sensor camera because there are only two Z mount DX lenses for it and Nikon does not have that many F mount DX lenses. He goes on to say that FX mount lenses are not as sharp with an APS-C sensor. Really?. Crop factor would have the center portion of the FX lens being used which is usually the sharpest area of most lenses. I think there was one comment to that video that said that TN was unhappy that he wasn't invited to the camera's introduction event. Anyway, I have no malice toward him or is wife. I just try to weigh what they say with a bit of skepticism. Live and let live.
Anyone who thinks TN gives value in return for the air he breathes needs some help. He does the web because he couldn't make his living as a photographer.

Yes, another example of “fake news”.
I’ve been hearing the story for 55 years

I think all these naysayers need to take a very large, high, and hot enema. They are nothing more than purveyors of trash talk. Just like too many politicians. You also have to wonder who pays their bills.
