I am looking for a messenger bag for my camera gear when I don't want to carry my entire back pack and looking for suggestions from those who have had good experience with bags.
Thanks
Billingham from the UK is the best.

I purchased this to take to Iceland.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1353765-REG/manfrotto_mb_nx_m_igy_2_messenger_bag_gray.htmlIt worked out great as it has top access without opening the flap. I do like it a lot.
It should fit under an airplane seat also as long as you don't over-stuff it.
BUT, if you have anything small, like keys, if you don't put them in one of the zippered pockets, they can fall out when the bag is turned upside-down, like at airport security screening...
The top is a flap and does not seal (by zipper) on the sides.
I carried two spare batteries, battery charger, a filter pouch, angle finder, 50mm lens and the camera with an 18-200mm lens. Plus little stuff in the zipper pouches.
Take a peek at Ona Bags, I'm very please with the quality and ergonomics.

I have a Manfrotto messenger. I quite like it over my more traditional bag that I had, but ultimately I am not satisfied with it. I think I want something a bit smaller. However, I tend to be a huge over packer when it comes to my camera gear, so not sure I'd do too well with something smaller. I currently have the Manfrotto Speedy 10 messenger bag. Would be worth taking a look at their website to see if they had anything that peaked your interest in a messenger. I ended up getting mine from my local camera store.
I have tried numerous “camera bags,” but never found one that I was satisfied with. One of my key requirements, other than size, was for a trolley strap or some method to attach the bag to the handle of a rolling suitcase for ease of travel. I ended up getting an Domke insert for a larger “consumer” shoulder bag. There are not as many pockets for extra cards and accessories, but i make up for that in versatility. And, it does not stand out as a camera bag.
For specific events that will only use one or two lenses, i have a few smaller Lowepro holster and shoulder bags that I can pull out depending on the size of the rig.
I've used one of these for the past 9 years. I have a number of them each of my 35mm cameras has one.

I use the Billingham Hadley Pro to travel. I can fit one Nikon body, 17-50zoom, and a 70-300 zoom, SB 600 strobe, phone and other sundry stuff. There is no bag better made and you will pay a premium.

The best one for me is the Tenba. I don't have a lot of stuff and there is a place for my laptop.
