You will throughly enjoy this camera and the grip. The 5DMKIV is my favorite of my four Canon cameras. Now, if you don't have them already, start a collection of L-Series lenses suitable to what you shoot. The L-Series lenses are what really bring that camera to life! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine! Merry Christmas!!!

Hi Basil:
I was just like you. I have been looking at the 5D IV for the last 3 years. I have 7D II now. When I saw the deal BH offered I couldn't resist and went for it and ordered one. Now reading all the positive feed backs from so many I am encouraged. Mine should be arriving in a day.

Two years ago, Canon had a few 5D Mark IVs for "loan" at the Albuquerque Balloon fiesta. The catch was, you had to get there REALLY early to get one! (I arrived at 4AM and got their last loaner). I spent the entire day with this camera and, after I got home and loaded all my images into Lightroom, I knew I just had to have this camera some day. Of course at the time they were selling north of $3k, which was just more than I could justify. Then I started seeing Refurbished on the Canon Store for $2700. Tempting, but still a bit much. When I saw this BH deal for $1999 WITH the Battery Grip and a 64GB card, I still tried to resist, but I just couldn't. I know that the Mirrorless cameras are the new "thing" but I have so much invested in ES lenses that the mirrorless bug just hasn't bitten me yet - maybe a couple years down the road. I suspect Canon's move into mirrorless has a lot to do with the lower prices for the 5D4, but no matter, I want it!

You just bought a great camera that, coupled with your existing lenses, will give you many years of happy shooting. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

While Adorama has it at that price, take a look at B&H bundles, and the PayBoo card. The card allows you to buy the camera and B&H pays the state sales tax out of the selling price for the camera. There are several bundles to choose from.

It's "only" 30MP - not the 45 MP monster like you have. But it's a definite move up in MP (not that that's the only thing that matters) from my 20MP 6D. I'm most anxious to see how it does in Low Light and what the Dynamic Range is like.

Yep, it's definitely a "monster". Especially coming from a 10.2 MP D200. An eye opener, certainly. And yes, MP isn't the only thing that matters.

Not long ago, I saw a special sale from one of the well-known stores for the Canon 5D4, bundled with a Flashpoint Speedlight. The price was just under $2k for the bundle. To say this was tempting would be an understatement.

The 5D4 is a Camera I’ve been lusting after ever since I borrowed one from the Canon tent at the Albuquerque Balloon fiesta two years ago. I currently have a Canon 7D Mark II and a Canon 6D. The 7D is for BIF, Sports, etc. The 6D I use for everything else that isn't moving fast. The 6D is a very capable camera, but just lacking a bit in FPS and focus capabilities. I’d been thinking I’d like to upgrade the 6D for some time now. This deal was VERY tempting but, since I already have 2 Canon 600EX-RT and 1 Oris Speedlight, I resisted as I really don’t need another SpeedLight.

Then this morning I got an email from another of the “usual suspects” Camera stores with yet another pre-Christmas deal. This time, however, the bundle was for the 5D4 with an OEM Canon battery grip and a 64GB SD Card! The price was the same - just $1999 with free one-day shipping. I know this was not a “need” - it was a “want”. I get that, but resistance was futile and I pulled the trigger! It was the bundle with the OEM Grip and the SD card that tipped the scales. If their shipping claim holds true, I should have it just in time for Christmas.

Which well known store are you talking about?

Oh! Never mind. I see that you said BH. Good choice going with them.

My first camera was a Canon AE-1. Had my own B&W developer and a color processor. Still have and use the camera although my darkroom is long gone. Next, I purchased a PowerShot S80 for my pocket on motorcycle trips. Love that little camera-takes great pictures-and does all the stuff the big cameras do. Then I decided to really bite the digital bullet and bought the Canon 50D. Was a great intro to digital and I still use it. Then I had a GAS attack and B&H had a deal. So I bought the 5D Mk IV. I really like it but as with all new things-it takes some getting used to. Looking forward to seeing your pictures Basil

Oh Great, Thanks very much JohnH3.
You have now given me even more GAS needs/wants.

Congratulations! I had most recently gone from a used 60D to a hi-click 5DMIII. A Mike's Camera tent sale lured me in, and I fell for the pitch on the EOS R. Had I waited for this kind of price drop on the MIV, that would have been my choice, though I don't dislike the R. I was just getting acquainted with the 5D, and I think I would have liked to stick with the next version.

Yes, all my lenses EF lenses work fine with the R and its adaptor, but the routine of mounting it first on the lens, then lens and adaptor to camera is a pain in the a$$. I don't know why it can't be left on the camera to switch from one lens to another, but what do I know?

Anyway, enjoy that 5DM3! Excellent choice!

Congratulations! Don't feel a bit guilty, you did your part to keep the economy going. :D

Considering it was north of $3 grand when it first came out, I'm feeling pretty proud of my restraint in waiting over two years for a deal like this. Of course in a few months this probably won't seem like such a great deal, but I think I'm ok with that.
