Considering it was north of $3 grand when it first came out, I'm feeling pretty proud of my restraint in waiting over two years for a deal like this. Of course in a few months this probably won't seem like such a great deal, but I think I'm ok with that.
Oh I bet you will. I suspect it will be a relevant camera for quite a few years. When you consider how many mp are needed for prints and what is needed to take really good images it will have staying power. New models may have more mp's, dynamic range and more bells and whistles but not sure how much improvement of images will be gained. It is an exciting time for photography though and you never know what is around the corner.
Well written...I was able to enjoy the thrill with you.
Thanks Cheapshot for the comment that wasn't (a cheap shot)
Since 7:41AM this morning it has been out for delivery with estimated delivery time before 8PM. That probably means it will arrive at 7:59PM

Not long ago, I saw a special sale from one of the well-known stores for the Canon 5D4, bundled with a Flashpoint Speedlight. The 5D4 is a Camera I’ve been lusting after ever since I borrowed one from the Canon tent at the Albuquerque Balloon fiesta two years ago. I currently have a Canon 7D Mark II and a Canon 6D. The 7D is for BIF, Sports, etc. The 6D I use for everything else that isn't moving fast. The 6D is a very capable camera, but just lacking a bit in FPS and focus capabilities. I should have it just in time for Christmas.

I am very happy for you. Your post made my friend and I enter in a talk this morning about all the great canon stuff we had lost to theft a few years ago but separately and what to do. I recently decided to start the plunge with the 6d with the intent to go for the 5D4 in a year or soon.
You are ahead of us and yes the 6d seems limited. The will be great to take on the beach, woods or anywhere it could get bent or stolen and same for lenses that are pricey vs cheaper or dented.I really like the way you have various canons for various photography. Merry Christmas
Oh my name came from being sold wrong lenses recently at a certain store 3 or times or rather that frustration. I know to get ‘reddoted not those cheap ones with white square etc.’ that was a play on words. My tortoise Flash being a ‘red footed’ tort
Reddoted
Love this camera! Best wishes to you, and enjoy!
Basil, I made this up last Christmas when I got my 5D MkIV. Thought you might find it useful. Menu tabs at bottom...

Sorry to hear about your loss. I was not unhappy with the 6D - it's really quite a great camera for the money. I've seen more than one review of the 6D that suggests in some areas (low light, dynamic range, etc) it may even be a tad better than the newer 6D2. For most day-to-day shooting situations it won't leave you wanting for much. Even though it's meant as an entry-level full frame, they included WiFi and GPS, which is pretty amazing for an entry level camera that came out in 2012.

Hey thanks for sharing your spreadsheet! Looks like some good stuff there!
By the way, Santa just came a short time ago! I couldn't get it out of the box fast enough! Luckily I had some batteries already charged up so was able to take a couple test shots right away. Here are the very first 3 shots ever taken with my new toy (135mm @ f2 ISO 12800 on the first two and 6400 on the third), These were not well thought out - just snapped what was around in pretty low light. (Focus could have been better, but I wasn't really taking my time). I didn't check any settings except aperture and ISO auto. Turns out it was configured to shoo .JPG.
