I'm re-reading the post this time...movie files can be a bit funky sometimes. I've had similar issues. Might it be the actual disc you're transferring to?

I will try iMovie and good call on the disc. I will look into that. Thanks for your comments and advice.

The best one to use for movies or slides is iMovie. After finishing your slides using iMovie, click share and choose File and save it as a video & audio format. When that's done, insert a blank DVD to your Mac's CD drive and a new window will open asking you to open Finder. When Finder opens, double click on your blank DVD a new window will open where you can drop your saved slides/movie file then click the familiar CD burn sign (ball with yellow and black color) on the left pane of your DVD window and it will burn it into a DVD movie. That's it.
iDVD has been gone for a very long time since time immemorial but burning DVDs is still there. Or you can buy a DVD app by Roxio if you want to have more options for burning DVDs.
Hope this helps.

My son has been delivering video to clients via Dropbox, but now someone is asking him to put it on a DVD and without iDVD, he's not sure of best way to do it. So if you figure this one out, please share it here on the forum. His conclusion was to invest $$$ in special software but he's not sure which one to choose. Any additional input welcome. Thanks!

If I find a solution I will let you know.

DVDs are obsolete technology. A decade ago, I burned thousands of them for training kits. That idea seems quaint, now.

These days, we make 1080P or 4K videos and upload them to YouTube or Vimeo or a similar site. OR, we send people cheap USB flash drives.

Since 2001, I’ve used iMovie for slide shows. Now I also use Final Cut Pro X. Output is to YouTube or flash drives.

PowerPoint can be used to enhance some slides. It can output video you can add to your timeline. It can do a full show, but comparatively awkwardly.

iMovie has several advantages:

> Free with every Mac, + free updates

> Linear timeline for sound and audio

> Integrated with Photos application

> Integrated with GarageBand

> Handles titles and special effects

> Can do most of the effects used by Ken Burns and other documentary filmmakers

LOL yes I should get up to date. However, this is for a once a year application. For 35 years the same 4 couples get together on a rotating basis for Thanksgiving. And for at least 15 of those years someone in the group, usually Richard as he is the most savvy at creating the DVD, creates 4 DVD of all the event pics. Maybe it is time to share in a different way. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Now that I am retired I will have the time to pursue options, and keep busy. Happy Holidays

The coolest thing about posting the video online is that you can share it with anyone, much more easily, and with better quality, in less time. No DVD mastering, no duplication, no verification... just 1080P Full HD or 4K goodness. DVDs are just 480P... little better than the old analog TV standard.

Also, if you use the Adobe subscription it comes with software that is included for sharing websites, videos, and other digital graphic elements. You might try that, too.

Foto Magico. This is the first section of a slideshow that I made many years ago using version 3.8.8 We sold thousands of DVD's for the tourist market. Please note that there is a drop in quality when you down load to YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcYPzF_LxAk&t=84s

If you have the original in a higher definition format, you should delete the present one on YouTube and replace it. YouTube can easily handle 1080P and 4K now.

BTW, very nice photography! Makes me want to visit Tasmania.

Yes, FotoMagico 5 (Ver 5.6.12) is a good program to create slideshows and burn them to standalone CDs or DVDs. Simple to use and they have supplied examples that can be easily customized for your specific needs. Easy to title your slideshow as well as add background music with your own music or some they supply. You can control how you transition from one slide to another as well as the timing for each. You can even mix in movie clips from your phone or camera.

Thanks, couple of others recommended this. I took a look and I think it will do everything I need and more.
