Thanks, I should have been more clear. You are right, creating the slide show is easy, transferring it to DVD that is causing me frustration. I got one slideshow with music that plays great on my MAC but when I play in in my DVD player the music cuts in and out, sort of jerky.

Would iMovie work our for ya? You can create all the transitions, and once complete, download it into a file and from there burn it to dvd.

I'm re-reading the post this time...movie files can be a bit funky sometimes. I've had similar issues. Might it be the actual disc you're transferring to?
Take a look at Pro Show at photodex.com. They have a free trial version you can download.
My son has been delivering video to clients via Dropbox, but now someone is asking him to put it on a DVD and without iDVD, he's not sure of best way to do it. So if you figure this one out, please share it here on the forum. His conclusion was to invest $$$ in special software but he's not sure which one to choose. Any additional input welcome. Thanks!

I use Lightroom Classic CC.

DVDs are obsolete technology. A decade ago, I burned thousands of them for training kits. That idea seems quaint, now.
These days, we make 1080P or 4K videos and upload them to YouTube or Vimeo or a similar site. OR, we send people cheap USB flash drives.
Since 2001, I’ve used iMovie for slide shows. Now I also use Final Cut Pro X. Output is to YouTube or flash drives.
PowerPoint can be used to enhance some slides. It can output video you can add to your timeline. It can do a full show, but comparatively awkwardly.
iMovie has several advantages:
> Free with every Mac, + free updates
> Linear timeline for sound and audio
> Integrated with Photos application
> Integrated with GarageBand
> Handles titles and special effects
> Can do most of the effects used by Ken Burns and other documentary filmmakers
Probably the easiest solution would be to create your slide show in iMovie save the video file to your hard drive then get the newest version of Roxio Toast which can burn CD/DVD or even BluRay disks. Toast is on sale now for almost 50% off.
And iMovie will also allow you to add a music/voice soundtrack.

ProShow is great, but it requires installation on Windows. (The web version is dying.)
The OP uses a Mac. Windows can run on Macs, but if you aren't booting it natively via BootCamp Assistant, ProShow can be a problem child.

iDVD was great, when DVDs were king. I used it extensively. Alas, it died a gooey death with MacOS Mojave. Apple's Final Cut Pro X can still burn DVDs, but the function is pretty primitive.
Roxio Toast 18 Titanium is about $90, and then you need a CD/DVD burner if you don't have one in your Mac. OWC sells them, if you want to go that route.
https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MR3USD24/The PRO version is $120, and it can handle Blu-Ray burning. Then you need a Blu-Ray burner, too...
https://eshop.macsales.com/search/?sort.popularity=desc&q=blu-ray+burnerIn 2020, most folks won't be burning or watching much on optical discs. Web services for video have all but replaced the need for physical media.
If you think about it, web video sites are like still photo sharing sites. Instead of handing out a stack of prints, or a disc, we send someone links to our work. Anyone, anywhere, can view or watch instantly, on smartphones, tablets, computers, or smart TV devices. Quality is up to 4K, depending on your original and the speed of Internet connections used. You can password protect your work, too.

I use a Mac only program from a company called BOINX. The product they sell (among others) is called Foto Magico. It does an amazing job. Tons of effects. You can mix in videos and any size photo file. Multiple audio tracks that talk to iTunes. It works with your iightroom files or you can drag and drop from anywhere.
The file gets really big as you build your show, perticulaarly if you have video, but once rendered even a long and complicated show ends up small and in a form that can be played on any Mac without having the program on the computer. Check their website.

Thanks I have looked into Foto Magico5. Glad to hear it works for you. There are a few bad reviews out there but overall most seem to have a positive experience. Thanks for your comments.
