I've heard that bananas have been so hybridized and domesticated that they're barely even bananas any more. But I like the slippery-peeled critters all the same. Laugh-In? Arte Johnson? Yup. Remember both well (long term memory is fine; short term memory is..... what was I saying???). Whenever possible, we'd watch Laugh-In on Sunday evenings on the TV machine our friendly and war-like US Gov't supplied us with in the dayroom of the barracks. Then they foolishly made me an NCO, and I got to move into NCO quarters where there wasn't a dayroom. Those were tough times, Cork-El!
Somebody say 'blueberries'? Mmmmmmm!

I'm sure they were tough times, Cany. I missed serving by certainly no more than a few days as I had already taken the physical exam and had heard from two of the branches of service and was expecting a draft notice any day. I was planning to sign with the National Guard probably the next day because my good friend that I worked that was in the Guard had already talked with them about me when someone at work said that President Kenedy had just signed an executive order saying that married people would be exempt from the draft. A little later in the day, I received a call from home saying that a Marine Recruiter was at our home and would like to talk with me. When I mention the executive order to him he said that "it was news to him"...Nice morning outside at dawn with temps around 26 and heavy fog over the river. I went outside to feed the wildlife and two rabbits greeted me along with a few squirrels as I also scattered some corn in the shallow water for the ducks. I then moved to the front of our lot and scattered corn and cut up apples for the doe deer and her two twins that pay us a visit each morning. Tough life!
Take care.
